After a warm and busy day in Puglia, it is time to relax and enjoy the magic of Mediterranean nights. This tour starts at sunset, continues during twilight and finishes at night. It takes place in the beautiful and peaceful countryside of Rudiae. First, we will visit the archaeological park, then, surrounded by nature, olive trees and remains of ancient civilizations, we will enjoy some stargazing and talk about myths, constellations, history, cosmology and more.

Parco Archeologico Di Rudiae

The tour starts visiting and informing about the main monuments of the archeological park, namely, the roman road, the remains of the sacred temple, the underground tomb and the amphitheater.

In the second part of the tour, we will go down to the arena of the amphitheater. There, we will turn our attention to the sky. While talking about history, constellations and mythology we will travel in time and enjoy once again a timeless Mediterranean night.

Tour with a guide and entrance to the Archeological Park of Rudiae.

As we can provide just some flashlights, we ask participants to come with their mobile phones fully charged; therefore, they could use them as flashlights for moving when it gets dark.

We suggest participants to bring a beach towel or fabric for covering the floor in case they would like to lye or sit on the ground while we are at the arena of the Roman amphitheater.

We suggest participants to bring some mosquito repellent spray.

Very interesting tour (archaeological site too little known in Salento). Mauricio, the guide, is really prepared and extremely kind. On this tour you will have a varied program, including information about the archaeological site and observation of the constellations.

This tour was a very interesting and unique experience. Mauritzio’s passion for the subject matter shone through and the links that he drew from this ancient site and the stars to modern day life and trends were very memorable and thought provoking. He was very helpful and communicative, including regarding transport to and from the site. If you have an interest in archaeology, astronomy and anthropology this tour is for you!

I’ve done a lot of tours, and this one was unique and special. Mauricio’s passion for and knowledge of Roman and Messapian history shone through. There’s nothing quite like walking into a Roman amphitheater through the gladiators’ entrance and then looking up at the night sky and talking about the constellations. (We also got the benefit of a lovely sunset.) Highly recommend!

It was a high-level sensory experience that involved us completely. The guide, by mome Maurizio, touched on different areas: the territory (the ancient Rudiae) with the intoxicating scent of medicinal herbs together with the observation of the starry sky, showing in both areas a high level of competence and involvement. Absolutely to recommend to everyone, without thinking!!!

The visit to the archaeological park, a few days ago, together with my friends, turned out to be much more interesting than I imagined and all this was possible thanks to the explanations and stories of our guide, Mauricio, who catapulted us into history, into our history .. through important stories and anecdotes ... to end the visit under a starry sky, to which was added a lesson on the stars .. An amazing experience and a perfect activity to do while cooling off in the summer night. I went with my friends after hearing about this tour from a local during a visit. Initially we didn’t think much about it, but we were pleasantly surprised by the level of history behind the stars and the stories they tell in the context of Roman civilization. Really fascinating. A wonderful offer of the city and people of Lecce.

A very well organized tour where I discovered the real hidden pearls of our territory!!
