Richard is SUCH a great resource! We had to keep our class short but in that time we saw improvement of our skill and learned a lot about Chinese Calligraphy culture/philosophy. It was a peaceful environment and there were only a couple of us so we got a lot of hands on assistance and help. He’s a true master that has been doing this for 38 years. Definitely give it a try if you’re in Beijing. We had such a good time!

I had a great time at this calligraphy class in Beijing. It was quite challenging at first, but with Richard’s guidance it quickly became much easier and really enjoyable. He’s a fantastic teacher—patient, encouraging, and full of interesting insights into both the techniques and the mindset behind Chinese calligraphy. He also took some great photos and videos for us during the session, which was a really nice touch, and we got to take home our own finished pieces as a souvenir. Overall, a really memorable and worthwhile experience—I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Beijing.

You need this class and you don’t even know it. It felt like an authentic experience which is what I was looking for. Richard was so calm and patient with me and by the end of the session, I felt so calm. Do it for the fun. Do it for the tranquility.
