Glass House Mountains Lookout
The Glass House Mountains, located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, offer a breathtaking and unique experience for those seeking a blend of natural beauty and cultural history. The cluster of ancient volcanic peaks, named by Captain James Cook in 1770, captivates visitors with its dramatic landscape and panoramic views. Rich in First Nations heritage, the area holds stories and traditions of the indigenous people. Made of trachyte and rhyolite, the mountains were formed about 25-27 million years ago as molten lava cooled and hardened within the vents of ancient volcanoes. Over time, the softer material surrounding the volcanic plugs eroded, leaving the striking peaks we see today.
McCarthy's Lookout
This lookout is located in Jinibara Country in Maleny. The vistas allow you to soak up the views of the Glass House Mountains and surrounding countryside. The views are nothing short of spectacular and allow you to see the majestic Blackall Range and Moreton Bay. As you gaze upon the panoramic views, you'll be captivated by the lush rolling hills, dense forests, and the mesmerizing silhouettes of the volcanic peaks in the distance.

5.00Absolutely the best market ever. Check it out if you love quality crafts and want to meet the people who make them. Avoid driving there if you can - in winter when we visited all the pay carparks were full and we spent a frustrating hour looking for a parking space in the streets around Eumundi.
An amazing tour. You couldn't ask for more.

5.00This was amazing! We went to 9 different places, all of them amazing, and our guide Trevor was extremely knowledgeable. He didn't even mind that there were only 2 of us, and was flexible when we asked to spend a bit longer at Eumundi Markets at the expense of some time at Noosa Beach. We couldn't ask for more!

5.00We had near perfect weather for this trip, and with no fog were able to clearly see the Glass House Mtns and Bribie Island from the Lookouts. Morning Tea at The Barn in Flaxton (perched on the Blackall Range) was a special treat — best scones ever! Then to Eumundi Markets, a bustling place with lots of handcrafts, art, artisan foods, as well as performers and food vendors. Great bookstore (new & used) on the main road. Noosa Heads was a nice experience, and the beach is lovely. Then to the National Park where we took a walk along the coastal track to Dolphin Point. Lastly, my husband & I enjoyed a delicious ginger ice cream at the Ginger Factory & Shop in Yardina. This was a 12 hr day, but the itinerary was well organized by Trevor and everything was well worth the time.
