Omaha Beach
Omaha Beach was known to be the most difficult military objective when the invasion of Normandy was being planned. In order to be sure that the Allied forces took it the youngest and most foolhardy soldiers were assigned to it, most of them were American. You'll walk on the same sands as them and learn about their acts of heroism and sacrifice.
Overlord Museum - Omaha Beach
Operation Overlord was the code name given to the Allied Invasion of northwest Europe. This museum has an unequaled collection of military equipment that was used to either defend or attack the coast of Normandy. Such as a full-sized authentic Higgins boat, with its front flap down, and impressive Sherman and Panzer tanks.

3.00I would like to share our experience with the Blue Fox Travel, as I have seen a number of itineraries have “day trip to Normandy” on them. While our tour guide was super nice and knowledgeable (we really enjoyed speaking with her and found her so lovely), and we were happy with the tour overall - saw the main D Day sites, visited the museum which was super interesting and informative - the transportation there and back to Paris was horrible. My family was with another family of four - 2 adults and 2 small kids. The bus was a mini van with seating for 7 - 2 rows of two and then the back row of three). My family and this other family were at the pick up spot at the same time and for whatever reason, they boarded the bus first. They took the two rows for two ppl and left the row in the very back for us. It was more cramped than an economy plane ride. We were in the bus for about 6-7 hours total, so this was totally uncomfortable at the end of the day. I considered saying something to the family like, hey we were in the back on the way to Normandy, why don’t we switch it up for the way back, but decided not to make a fuss. I looked at reviews of the tour (of course after we did the tour! Haha) and I noticed a number of ppl complained about being in the back of the bus and it being hot and cramped. I would think with all these reviews, the tour guide would say something like - the back row is smaller, maybe little kids can sit in the back? Any who - maybe they don’t want to get involved, who knows? Just wanted to give ppl the heads up that if you are using this tour, just be mindful you may not get a nice seat? But maybe you are aggressive and will have a nice seat for 7 hours. Who knows!

5.00Chris M was a spectacular tour guide! His deep knowledge and passion for WWII history really shined through, and he made our tour very enjoyable. He was also very personable and easy to talk to/ask questions of. Our tour group included one additional small family making us a group of 8. Being on a tour of this size made it a very pleasant and personal experience - esp for my 15 year old who is developing a passion for WWII himself. I think if we chose a big bus style tour, we would have gotten a lot less out of the experience and would have felt more like a part of a huge herd. Our time at each attraction was well spent, and Chris was very adept at managing our itinerary so that our outdoor stops were timed with better weather conditions. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in experiencing the history of WWII and who prefers a more personalized experience. Do plan for a long day - we met up at 6:45am and didn't get back until 8:30pm. There is time to rest on the 2.5 hour drive which does help. Also make sure to dress for the elements! Beaches in Normandy can be cold and windy - even in the summer! We were there in early spring, and I was very glad to have layers along with a hat, gloves, scarf, and hooded wool jacket. There is also a lot of walking, and some uneven terrain and stairs in some areas. Wear comfortable walking shoes that also give you some good stability and traction. You'll also be walking on the beach, so keep that in mind for your footwear as well. I wore ankle boots (Chelsea style) which worked great for me. You don't really need to bring much with you, and you can leave your belongings in the van at each stop.

5.00Fabulous tour.. Oliver, driver, historian, flexible, etc When I mentioned that my father had been wounded at Pun de Huc, Oliver went to that beach for a minute so I could see where he was wounded. Museum is ‘one of a kind’

5.00My wife and I took two of our children and my mother on this tour while recently visiting France. What a wonderful experience. The history and perspective of what those young men went through is something I'll never forget. Thank you to our Tour Guide, Victor, who was able to provide history of the events that transpired, while also making my kids laugh a little along the way. 10/10 experience.

5.00Best we’ve ever been on. It was well worth the extra cost to go in a small group rather than on a coach because of the flexibility and instant camaraderie of the group. Cesar, our guide, was the best! He was knowledgeable, pleasant, helpful, and attentive. I couldn’t more highly recommend him or this tour.
