Northern Lights Hunt
We pick you up and whisk you away from the city lights to where we predict the best sightings according to the cloud forecast. Our small tour group allows us to get off the beaten path and away from the crowds to enjoy the Northern Lights in serenity.*
Stargazing with telescope
While waiting for the lights we use our powerful stargazing telescope to explore crude details of the planets in our solar system and deep space phenomena lightyears away. We take photos of everyone under the lights, for free.
Your guides
We spend our winters chasing Northern Lights weather, and our summers chasing Paragliding weather. We know our Icelandic weather! We are local sky enthusiasts and our small and personal tours are designed to make you feel like a part of our team and a part of Iceland.

PICK UP TIMES: 1. Sept.-15. April: 9-9.30 pm
At 6.30pm each day we make our Go/NoGo decision according to weather and message you to CONFIRM OR CANCEL through the Viator system. As we have no other way of contacting you please make sure you contact us directly if you do not receive ANY message from us, before you start waiting for your pick up. If the tour is cancelled due to weather you can either re-schedule or receive a full refund.
If you do not see the Northern Lights on your tour, you may re-book free of charge (subject to availability). You must confirm via e-mail.
If The Customer fails to show up at pickup: No refund.
If we cancel the tour, for any reason at any time, The Customer is eligible for a 100% refund. This does not include tours that are free re-runs (such as after non-sightings Northern Lights tours).
Under no circumstances is The Customer eligible for a refund in part or full for a tour that was performed.
We travel in modified superjeeps – Because the Earth is not Flat. Prepare for an adventurous activity tour rather than luxury!
It is recommended that you wear thick, warm and windproof layers. You will spend a lot of time outside in the cold Icelandic night. To enjoy the night sky at it's best it is important to be able to stay warm outside. You can jump back in the vehicle once in a while to catch up on warmth

5.00I'll be honest I don't go for reviewing much HOWEVER when I feel something is really brilliant I will make an exception! You are never guaranteed to see the Northern lights even if all the data says you will, so I looked for a tour that had something else as well. I love learning so the fact that we were going to be looking at stars/Planets whilst we waited for the Northern lights really appealed. Prostur who took us out is Icelandic born and bred(not all tour guides are). He regaled us with amusing stories , showed us planets and stars. We learnt loads and had a great laugh...and yes we saw the Northern Lights as well! We had such a fantastic experience we booked them for two private tours as well. A decision I do not regret for one moment. Totally made our trip to Iceland. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

5.00Our guides were fantastic. Knowledge, friendly and engaging. I rate this excursion a 5 of 5 despite having not been able to see the lights. But the HUNT for the lights was a great deal of fun and our guides managed to still show us distant stars as well as some of the unique geological features that make up this beautiful land.
A must do!

5.00Absolutely incredible. Our guide, Pröster, was friendly, kind, knowledgeable and professional. He not only took us to an isolated and excellent viewing spot, but he shared tales of folklore and local ghost stories, too. He showed us Saturn, the moon and a couple of constellations on his telescope and took fantastic pictures, all while chatting and keeping the group entertained. He set reasonable expectations for the northern lights in October and explained to us the science behind it. Nevertheless, we saw an INCREDIBLE aurora with absolutely stunning pictures and videos to match. On the ride back, he even helped us make some plans for our remaining days in Iceland. The tour was phenomenal mostly thanks to his personality and ability to host us. HIGHLY recommend his services.

5.00I've taken this tour multiple times over the past seven years, and it is always a great time. Our guide Throstur was so personable and knowledgeable, and he did a wonderful job getting the group engaged in the hunt to find the aurora. On our night, it was cloudy in Reykjavik, and it took some time and some great driving to find a clear area. But when we got there, the Lights came out all around us and was so great to see. Throstur took wonderful photos for the group, and also kept us warm and happy with hot chocolate and Icelandic pastries. Thanks so much, Throstur, and I look forward to doing it again in the future!

5.00Our guide, Adrian, picked us up and took us to our hike in Denali. Adrian was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the plants and animals on our hike. I learned so many neat things about the environment and native people. Totally enjoyed this hike with, Adrian!

5.00Wonderful tour, our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, pick up was right on time, I was very impressed how they used the various weather data to find the breaks in the cloud cover! We got a great view of the aurora around 12:30 am and the hot chocolate and snacks were the cherry on top of an unforgettable night.

5.00Although the Lights did not cooperate on our tour night, we were entirely satisfied with our experience with Happy World Tours. You learn everything you need to know about an operation when things don't go your way (due to no fault of the company itself). Our guide, Ollie(sp?) was knowledgeable, friendly and worked hard getting us to the best dark & secluded spot for viewing...we drove past many big tour busses stopped in parking lots. Who wants to stand around with hundreds of other people next to tour busses running in a parking lot? Ollie shared plenty of history and info on the area, the Lights, and the starry sky, and he went out of his way to make sure we felt safe and comfortable. Although the Lights did not appear, the delicious hot chocolate and freshly baked cookies were a bonus. Perhaps most importantly, this tour company absolutely went to great lengths working with us to rebook another tour before we departed Iceland. This says a lot about the tour operator's quality and integrity. Ultimately, my sisters and I decided to wait and rebook on our next visit to Iceland. We will be back and can't wait to try again with the guys at Happy World Tours!

5.00We did the tour on Feb 11 in 2025 and the whole experience was great - the cars were comfy and on time, our guides (Vikingur and the Canadian guy) were super friendly and knowledgeable. Time was never wasted - we saw the aurora already on the way and after stopping at a really great location - the guide setup the equipment and took many amazing photos of us when the next aurora events happened. Between the aurora events - the guides told us a lot of interesting facts about aurora and the stars and Iceland, they also setup the telescope for us, served delicious cookies and hot chocolate, and answered all our questions. I couldn't ask for a better experience. Thank you, HappyWorld!

5.00The guides were very friendly and very well educated, not just about the northern lights, but also about the stars and other planets which we got a chance to look at with a telescope! Very much recommended if you want to see the northern lights!
