• The Best Northern Lights Experience You Could Ask For

  We joined Nico for two nights of northern lights chasing in Tromsø, and he was truly exceptional from start to finish. His passion, knowledge, and genuine care for his guests made this the highlight of our entire trip. Having followed Nico’s page for quite some time, it was clear even before meeting him that he isn’t just running tours, he genuinely lives for helping people experience the aurora. In person, that same passion shows in everything he does. He was checking forecasts for us from midday, keeping us updated on conditions, and doing everything possible to give us the best chance without ever overpromising. He explained the aurora and the conditions in a clear and straightforward way, which we really appreciated. His guiding style is warm, funny, extremely knowledgeable and incredibly enthusiastic. What really stood out is how different Nico is from the big, over-commercialised northern lights tours. Instead of pulling off at the same crowded roadside spots as the large buses, Nico focuses on small-group, photography-friendly locations. Over our two nights he took us to beautiful lakes, valleys and fjord areas, always quieter, more scenic and far more intimate than the standard routes. When the lights started picking up, Nico reacted instantly, navigating us to the best possible viewpoints and making sure everyone could get great photos. He helped with camera settings, took stunning shots himself, and even spent ages helping another guest recover their camera after they accidentally dropped it the water. He provides a rare level of care and attention. He supplies warm food, hot drinks, snacks, chairs, and offers thermal suits or fires on colder nights. The pace was relaxed but efficient, with a bit of light walking to reach the best viewpoints. It never felt rushed or difficult, and since there was no snow yet during our early October visit, the walking was very manageable. What impressed us most is how consistently Nico goes above and beyond, not because he’s trying to wow anyone, but because he genuinely wants people to have an unforgettable night under the northern lights. He’s constantly monitoring the sky, forecasts and conditions while still being an engaging guide the entire time. It’s a stressful job, and somehow he makes it look effortless. This was our first northern lights tour, and we truly can’t imagine anyone doing it better. If we return to Tromsø, we wouldn’t consider going with anyone else.   I highly recommend the kind Nico as a guide & photographer for your arctic excursion, chasing the northern lights. I’m lost for words and how incredibly memorable he made our trip. From the convenient pick-up at our Tromsø AirBnb, to the interesting conversations and chats we had during the drive, to the off-road locations he was able to take us to in his 4x4 (which you would not be able to experience in a coach on a group tour). We actually drove passed seas of coaches in lay-bys as we drove into woods, through the wilderness, to find the most secluded and scenic spots to capture into idle photos. I felt so lucky we were able to do this. I had planned a surprise weekend away to propose to my partner and it could not have been more perfect. Nico of course knew the plan, and went above and beyond to help me find the perfect most scenic place to get down on one knee. I’d do it all again tomorrow. It felt like the most special adventure and the photos that Nico had captured were absolutely perfect. If you’re deciding between a larger group tour and a private one, I couldn’t recommend the tour with Nico enough. It was worth every penny and made for the most memorable proposal! Luckily my partner said yes, or our plan was to leave her in the woods! 😂❤️ We all talked for hours, explored, ate, were kept super warm, and the experience of reindeer soup and hot chocolate in the wilderness of Northern Norway was a once in a lifetime experience. Nico, from the bottom of my heart thank you. Your kindness and hospitality was above and beyond anything I could have expected. If you aren’t fully booked (which wouldn’t surprise me) when we return for our 1 year engagement anniversary, we will be booking this again. If I could rate this 100 stars I would.   Nico is the absolute expert you need if you're chasing the Northern Lights in Tromsø! My experience was truly surreal. Nico knows all the prime viewing spots and exactly how to position you for the best display. The ribbons of green, pink, and purple dancing across the sky were pure magic. If you want bucket-list photos of the Northern Lights, book with Nico! He doesn't just guide you; he actively helps you capture the magic perfectly. The whole experience was unforgettable and we got amazing, photogenic results.

  It’s our dream to see the Northern Light and we came all the way from Singapore to Tromsø. We wanted a small group tour for more intimate experience, far from the madding crowd. Nico has made all the efforts to make an unforgettable experience for our family of 3. Grazie Mille Nico! Tussen Tak! PS: the cookies are very nice!

  Amazing experience to chase the Northern Lights. Small group of six means it’s more personal (we also did a minibus tour with another company and this was notches above). The guide paid attention to every small detail from thermal suits to head torches to camp fire, hot chocolate and reindeer stew. He chose a beautiful area with a lake which added stunning reflections to the photos. He provided useful information and judged the time and place well. His professional photos came out thoroughly impressive. He was good with my 9 year old child which was important as I know some tours don’t accommodate younger kids. Would highly recommend.

  We took two trips with Nico and they were fantastic! We did the day tour visiting islands and the Northern Lights Tour at night. This guide is truly passionate about what he does and cared so very much about his customers and if they are happy. He is very knowledgeable about the area! I must have asked hundreds of questions and he could answer them all. The days with Nico were magical and he took so so many great pictures for us to own/keep. BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!
