Join an all-inclusive northern lights chase with experienced The Green Adventure Team. You can count on many years of our experience, local knowledge and the finest photography, because if there's an Aurora waiting for us somewhere, we'll find her! We will take you to the areas with the best viewing potential for the night, away from city light pollution, even to Finland if necessary.
Enjoy a campfire with marshmallows and cup of hot chocolate in the wilderness, while our expedition leader will tell you some interesting stories from the north and legends about lady Aurora. Also you will have a chance to try "made in Tromso" soup, tailored for arctic expeditions, which will keep you warm from the inside. You will get also thermal suit to survive in cold temperatures.
After the tour, you'll receive photos taken by our expedition leader, capturing the highlights of your adventure and your portraits with Aurora, but of course, we can also help you with your camera/smartphone settings.

A current valid passport is required on the day of travel as we may travel into Finland

Be aware that access to proper toilets in Norwegian wilderness is very limited, sometimes even impossible. We highly recommend to use any toilet before a tour, because in many spots we don't have access to toilets during winter time.
Please inform us also about your thermal suit sizes (the same like your winter jacket), so we will make sure that we have proper size ready for you on board.
Tour is not suitable for cruise ship passengers, which are not staying overnight in Tromso. We do not guarantee that we will be back before cruise's departure as our priority is to see the northern lights. Contact us to organize private tour as an alternative
It's good to know that the icy roads around Tromsø are not favorable for individuals with motion sickness. It's better to take appropriate medication in advance
For everyone's comfort we maintain a strict policy against individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

We can drive in area of 200km around Tromso to find good spots to observe the northern lights. Sometimes we can drive not so far from the city, but be prepared that sometimes we need to drive even towards Finland. We have experience with local weather and good contact network with other guides that helps us find clear sky - a prerequisite to see the Northern Lights.

Bring some water with you, it's important to be hydrated in cold and dry climate.

5.00Absolutely brilliant! JJ, our guide, was so friendly, knowledgeable & helpful, especially with tips on photography. There were only 8 of us on the tour which made it more personal. JJ took us to a couple of fab locations, with water & mountains to make our photos more special. We were so lucky with the Northern Lights - an unforgettable display lasting well over an hour. Then soup, hot chocolate & marshmallows roasted on an open fire. I’d highly recommend this experience.

5.00An excellent choice for Northern Lights hunting in Tromsø. We did the tour two days in a row with Green Adventure, and both experiences were different from each other, yet equally amazing. The first tour took place on a day with a snowstorm. We were very concerned at first, but the entire trip was conducted safely. It was impressive to see the effort and dedication of our guide, Antonio, and the driver, David, in finding a location with good visibility. We were lucky to have strong solar activity that night, but without Antonio’s expertise, we wouldn’t have been able to witness the show. Throughout the journey, he was constantly analyzing routes, gathering information, and observing the sky. At two different stops, he quickly noticed signs that something promising was starting, pointed out where we should look, and guided us efficiently so we could be in the right place at the right time. On the second day, with our guide Jessica, we had a clear, starry sky, which gave her more time to provide detailed explanations about the phenomenon during the drive. Solar activity was still weak when we left, but she carefully monitored the forecast and used the time wisely to reach a stunning location. The spot she chose was perfect, with an incredible view of the fjord. We were lucky to see the aurora again, and Jessica also took great photos of the group. We highly recommend Green Adventure. Before the tours, we had a few questions and they responded promptly via WhatsApp. They provided thermal suits and tripods upon request and served a good “turmat” meal around the bonfire. The soup was tasty, and there was also a vegetarian option available. Everything was very practical and thoughtfully organized.

5.00If there was one word to describe the tour: wow! We were very lucky with the spectacular light show that we got that night but even if we had worse luck, we could tell we were in good hands with our driver David and guide Antonio. The pickup location was easy to find but be mindful that there are other tours that leave from the same location. Make sure you arrive about 5 minutes early to find your guide. Antonio was an excellent guide and you can tell that he genuinely loves the outdoors and showing people the natural beauty of Norway. They will do all they can to make sure you can see the northern lights. We had two stops. Our second stop was the longest and where we saw an amazing show. Antonio took lots of pictures of both the lights and us with the lights in the background. He also made a campfire where we had dehydrated reindeer stew (sounds gross but it was delicious) and marshmallows. The fire took a while to build because the light show was so spectacular that Antonio kept getting distracted! We were able to download all the amazing photos with a small watermark and purchase individual photos without the watermark. I wish there was a “picture package” that we could purchase for all of the photos as the site to buy the individual photos was oddly setup. Buying the pictures goes directly to your guide, so that’s really the only way to tip them. Having the site setup like it is and no picture package makes it difficult to buy pictures and support your guide. Overall, I would highly recommend this experience and want to thank Antonio and David for the once in a lifetime experience. Even if you have a tougher time finding the northern lights, you are in good hands with the Green Adventure.

5.00Amazing experience. Very experienced guide Antonio who selected beautiful picturesque secluded locations. Very comfortable minibus, thermal gear, good ready made soup with roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate. We had a clear night with an amazing light show. Would definitely recommend this outfitter. They went above and beyond to help us see the Northern lights.

3.00Just ok. I’m not sure I would recommend this to other people we showed up and there were two different tour guides. One of them got to the northern lights way earlier than the other bus that I was on a very confusing. Realize you have to follow the lights, but why did we drive multiple hours in a different direction?

1.00I went hiking with this company on February 3, 2026, we start from the fact that they do not have thermal suits, that their hot soup and that in the supermarket carton that moisturizes it with water, that their hot drink and something indrinkable, and that their search for the Northern Lights stops 30 minutes from Tromso because the guide was totally inexperienced.

5.00We had a great time on our tour. The forecast for Tromsø was heavily cloudy but our guide made sure he found clear skies and a spot to give us the best chances, moving when needed. Julien was very knowledgable and the expedition food around the fire with marshmallows and hot chocolate was such a great experience! Definitely recommend!

A First-Class Northern Lights Chase – Antonio is the Best!

5.00My wife, daughter, and I had an incredible experience with Green Adventure that was more than we could have ever asked for. Even in the frigid cold, our guide, Antonio, ensured we had an awesome time. He even took us across the border into Finland to find the perfect viewing spot. The Experience: The hospitality was top-notch. We had a cozy campfire with hot drinks and marshmallows. For the meal, they served Turmat soup; while most others had the reindeer, we had the tomato soup, which was great. Antonio was incredibly patient and allowed us to take as many of our own photos as we wanted. The Photography (Green Adventure): The photo package is a major highlight. Antonio took about 75 professional photos and a fantastic time-lapse video. It is important to note that the included photos are web-quality with watermarks. However, they offer an upgrade to high-resolution, non-watermarked files. We paid $170 USD for all 75 photos (you can also get 10 for $100 USD), and it was well worth it—especially since the proceeds go directly to the guide. Comparison: We went on another chase the following night with a different company (initials WO), and they were not nearly as good. They only took 20 photos, a much shorter time-lapse, and they didn't even take photos during the best part of the Northern Lights show. The Finish: At the end of the night, they dropped us off right at our hotel. Since we didn’t return until 2:30 AM, this was a very nice touch. I would absolutely go with Green Adventure and Antonio again. A truly first-class experience!
