Northern Lights Midnight Adventure is a hunt for Iceland’s magical but elusive Northern Lights. Many visitors travel to Iceland to see the Northern Lights but don’t know where to look.

On this tour you travel in a comfortable, heated minibus while your guide searches for the best location to view the Northern Lights. Your guide will also explain the science of how the Northern Lights display occurs.

When or if the Northern Lights appear, your guide will offer to take photos for all participants, so you don’t have to bring a professional camera or be a professional photographer to join this tour. This tour is an ideal opportunity to get the most of your time in Iceland.

Northern Lights are natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Operated tours are not refundable.

Join us on a guided tour to hunt for the spectacular and elusive Northern Lights display. On this tour you travel in a comfortable, heated minibus while your guide searches for the best location to view the Northern Lights. Your guide will also explain the science of how the Northern Lights display occurs. We were very happy to see the Northern lights however we had a few hiccups. The confirmation and text I received from the tour operator told me to go to a specific hotel and when it was our pick up time, I received messages that we hadn’t arrived. I frantically tried to coordinate and eventually caught up with the bus. The bus driver lectured us for a few minutes in front of the entire group about our pick up location and I even double checked all of the communications I received and it had given us the hotel address. A girl on the bus also told me she had the same confusing experience. Then the tour was lovely at first, however, it was very clear that about 2.5 hours in when everyone had seen the northern lights the group was ready to head back. Everyone was tired, had to use the restroom, and it was 1:30am. Only 4/16 people were still going outside with the guide and it was clear people were ready to be done. The guide had us wait another 1.5 hours in the van to see if the lights were going to spike again which they did not. He likely should have asked the group if we wanted to wait or not. We then got home 50 minutes later than the tour end time at 2;50am. We were not prepared for that. Then when getting off the bus, the tour guide lectured us again about the pick up spot and it was 2:50am and it’s not like we were going to do the tour again anyway. Overall, we are happy we went and the guide did genuinely care about making sure you saw the lights, but he needs to be more attuned to how guests are feeling. The pictures the guide took were great and he was very skilled at finding the lights and pointing them out.

The experience was not a good one from the start. They say they pick up at hotel which was a key when booking but then they tell you to go to a meeting spot. Next you get on the 4 hour tour with no water, no bathrooms, there was no hot chocolate as offered in the ad. The last 2 hours the van heat was not turned on. The guide mentioned there was a window to see the lights once that passed, he continued to drive around and stop places which seemed silly at that point. People barely got off at stops and could tell the group was tired.

This trip was recommended by travel companions we met in Iceland. The experience was incredible and while it cost a bit more than other Northern Lights experiences, I can see why. The driver works with a "central command" to identify areas in the sky without clouds, and compare that to solar activity. They knew exactly where to drive and we went to multiple locations. Unlike other tours which are set to go to one location, this tour will take you wherever the Northern Lights are brightest. The drive was knowledgeable and fun, informative and also took amazing pictures of all the attendees. Included in the trip is the professional pics that were taken during your tour.

Our guide, the owner of the company, was very knowledgeable about the lights and gave many interesting facts. The hot cocoa was great and he stopped for bathroom breaks which was much appreciated. Also, he had several spots that he took us to even though we didn’t have a very good showing of the lights I enjoyed the facts and company of the guide.

This was an amazing experience! Luck was with us, and we began seeing the lights shortly after leaving Reykjavic. Our guide knew just where to go for viewing, and was very informative with great info all night long. The bus was comfortable. All in all one of the best experiences of my life!

This was a truly unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of our trip. We were picked up in a small, comfortable minibus that was very well organised and perfectly on time. After collecting a few other guests, we drove for around forty-five minutes out of town to a remote roadside location, which felt safe and peaceful with very little light pollution. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate, explaining how the Northern Lights are influenced by solar activity and the K-index, and even how they can sometimes be visible much further south. It added a fascinating educational element to the evening. The lights appeared earlier than expected and were highly visible, creating real excitement within the group. They faded and returned again, even stronger, giving us several chances to fully enjoy the spectacle. We were able to pop in and out of the minibus to warm up between viewings, and we were treated to the most delicious hot chocolate, which was very welcome in the cold conditions. The guide was incredibly helpful, taking photographs of both the lights and everyone in the group so we could focus on the experience rather than our cameras. It was very cold, around -5°C with a strong wind chill, but the atmosphere was absolutely magical. The stars were incredibly bright and added to the sense of being somewhere truly special and remote. Overall, a wonderfully organised, safe and memorable experience that we would highly recommend to anyone hoping to see the Northern Lights.

Yahhh we were able to experience the Northern Lights. Our driver was incredibly knowledgeable about the Northern Lights. He had a great personality and was very interactive with the group. He took some amazing photos which are included. If you aren’t as fortunate to experience the lights on your scheduled night the company gives you the opportunity to go out a second night. Overall I would highly recommend this tour!

It’s a very small group that goes, which we loved, on a very nice and clean and comfortable bus. The owner, also our tour guide, was very knowledgable , friendly, and funny. It was COLD dress very warm! But we got loads of good pictures with hot chocolate. I highly recommend for couples or solo travelers. The Northern Lights were surreal to see.
