  We went for a private tour with Markus as our guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and just great company in general. Managed to find us an amazing spot with no others looking across the Fjord and mountain range. Amazing scenery itself already and we managed to spot some great northern lights at the end of our tour. Markus even went above and beyond, stopping on the way back a couple of times to catch the lights. Can definitely feel his passion and love for his work!

  I searched for a tour to suit our family of 6. Greenlander went above and beyond to make our dream of seeing the northern lights a reality. Peter our guide had to combat adverse driving conditions to take us into Finland to find a gap in the clouds. We thought it wouldn’t work out for us then just all of a sudden we had an amazing show of lights. Peter’s enthusiasm for nature was infectious. To have professional photos taken and included with the tour meant we could enjoy the experience rather then trying to get that best shot ourselves ! Thank you Greenlander, very highly recommended.

  We chose to have a private tour to chase the Northern Lights, especially because of having a 4 year old with us. Peter was our guide and we consider ourselves very lucky! He is a very passionate person, who lives what he is doing, and such a combination can only pay off. Every detail was meticulously thought of. We had great talks around the fire as the year was coming to an end and we managed to also experience the magic of the lights. Absolutely precious moments and a unique ending to a challenging 2025!

  Superb experience with guide Peter Pettersen. He is awesome, so much info, great food, good knowledge on where to hunt for northern light. Everything was well prepared and very organised. Highly recommend to get Peter as your guide!

  What an incredible experience! I spent absolutely ages researching which aurora guide to use for our trip to Tromso, and I am so glad I opted for Greenlander. We are a family of 3 with a 9 year old boy, and were looking for a private tour, where we’d be more in control. I am also a landscape photographer and so I was keen to use a company who were about more than just snapshot holiday images, but also great locations with compositional options. The forecast ahead of our chase was looking awful - Markus however assured me he’d go as far as Finland to find gaps in the clouds for us. He picked us up early from our hotel in the centre of Tromso in a very comfortable Mercedes people carrier. He said he wanted to get ahead of other tours (especially the large bus ones), so off we zoomed in the direction of Finland. He was in constant contact with his team, along with keeping tabs on the weather and aurora stats. Excitement was building! Markus was an awesome guide, so friendly and great banter throughout. He was extremely knowledgable about the aurora and photographing it too. After a service station pit-stop, he said he could see a gap in the clouds, so we soon made our first stop. Very soon after we caught sight of the first burst in the sky above. I’ve seen the aurora a number of times in the UK and Iceland but it was already looking at least as good. He then said we’d go all the way to Finland for the best of it. So we quickly headed off. We made a further stop by some woodland, which brought an even stronger display, and then headed off again. By the time we crossed over the border, the temperature had dropped around 20 degrees! He noticed action in the sky above and soon stopped - we were then treated to the most spectacular rolling ribbons in the sky above, with greens and purples rolling over. We soon moved off to his final destination - by a stunning lakeside hut, deep snow all around. The sky soon exploded - an absolutely incredible burst of aurora, rippling and rolling in the sky overhead. Our son absolutely loved it - we were worried he’d struggle with the timing (we were there til around midnight) and the cold (-17!), but he managed it fine. So many amazing memories were made. Markus constantly checked we were ok, and then headed off to build the cosiest campfire for us - with hot chocolate, toasted marshmallows and biscuits, surrounded by deep snow. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Greenlander again. It was a lot of money to go private - we could have gone for a cheaper shared 8 people option, which would have been amazing - but I consider it money well spent. This was a top 10 life moment - and we couldn’t have picked a better company and person to take us.

  Our Northern Lights tour with Greenlander was epic!! Markus was great communicating leading up to the trip, and was even better in person, very engaging and full of information. He made sure we had everything we need to stay warm with a camp fire, snowsuits, soup, and cocoa. He had a spot picked out for us in advance and it was wonderful! On the way back to town he got an alert the lights were going to show again so we pulled over in a magical winter wonderland and saw the most spectacular show for over a half hour! It was unbelievable! He took nice pictures and just let us watch and enjoy. He went above and beyond to make the second stop. He was really kind and patient with our kids too (15 & 10). Highly recommend going with Greenlander!!

  You won’t find anyone better than Markus to see the Northern Lights. His kindness and dedication make this experience truly unique. He knows exactly where to go, and the photos he took were incredible. Absolutely outstanding — don’t hesitate to book with Greenlander!

  Hans was a good guide. He was good in selecting a dark place and requested us to be patient. The skies opened up and there was a great display. My family and I enjoyed the experience.

  Had a wonderful tour with Markus. We started off with a cloud cover, so were worried initially, but Markus drove us to some incredible spots that had clear skies and we got an amazing aurora showing. Got to see the lights with beautiful dancing bars! Thanks Markus for a memorable evening!

  Markus was our guide for the tour and he had planned everything to the last detail for the evening, including scouting for the locations that had the least cloud cover that night. Very helpful and a great photographer, he also provided useful tips for me set up my camera for the northern lights. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no solar activity that night, so we could not see anything. He offered us an option of joining another group the following day to see the northern lights, but we already had something else planned the evening. Overall a positive experience with Greenlander and will strongly recommend them to others!
