This section is great for beginners or the experienced rafter with over 20 continuous class III & IV rapids. With plenty of places to surf and play, you’ll see why thousands of folks return year after year to raft this classic 5-mile run. Starting just below the Ocoee Dam No. 2, you’ll encounter your first big rapid, Grumpy’s, then its on to Broken Nose, Roller Coaster, Table Saw, Hell’s Hole and many more. Top that all off with a great place to swim about half way down and you’ll certainly become “one” with the river. Our wonderful river guides will help make your adventure one to remember. Must be 12 years and older.

After a brief orientation, you'll board our bus for a ride into the Cherokee National Forest with views of Lake Ocoee and the river on your ride to the Ocoee River. Your Middle Ocoee adventure will begin at the Ocoee #1 Dam where your guide will go through a complete safety orientation with practice time before getting on the river. The Middle Ocoee River is 5 miles of class III/IV whitewater, featuring 17 major rapids and is 90% whitewater giving you miles of big waves, action and fun. As you descend the river gorge you'll be immersed in the beauty of the Cherokee National Forest. Your smiles and laughter will get bigger with each rapid as your confidence builds. This is the perfect bonding trip for family, friends and groups alike. No experience necessary! At the end of your river adventure, the bus will bring you back to the outpost where you'll get a chance to look at photos from your trip and change back into dry clothes. Minimum age to participate is 12 years of age.

5.00I had such a great experience with this company! Everyone was so nice and compassionate. Only $40 for 3 hours too, great deal! They had loud music and fun games before they took us to the rapids by the “cool bus” Once we were there it was game time and genuinely one of the best experiences I’ve had in my life. I definitely recommend Cherokee Rafting! Shoutout to our guide Travis, he made this trip so adventurous for us and made us all feel safe!

5.00Our group of three had an amazing trip down the Ocoee River Middle on April 19, 2026. Our guide, Sydney, was incredible! She shared history of the river and surrounding region, provided ample notice for me to start recording on my GoPro before each of the fun rapids, and was very friendly and informative throughout the day! Looking forward to returning later this year to paddle the entire river with Sydney and the wonderful Cherokee Rafting team! Thank you! John Scampone San Diego

5.00We had an incredible rafting experience with Cherokee Rafting, and our guide Jake truly made it exceptional. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and focused on safety from start to finish, which made the whole trip both exciting and comfortable. What really stood out was how well Jake read our group. He quickly picked up on what we were ready for and tailored the experience to match, making it as action-packed and fun as possible without ever compromising safety. It felt like the perfect balance of adventure and control. The entire trip was an absolute blast—high energy, memorable, and something we’ll be talking about for a long time. I honestly can’t imagine having a better guide or a better overall experience. If you’re considering rafting, ask for Jake. You won’t be disappointed.

4.00It was our first time white-water rafting, and we enjoyed every bit of it. Our guide, Josh, was very helpful, encouraging, and reassuring throughout the entire experience. We even did a few different tricks, which were really fun. I truly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back soon 😊
