Saint Sophia
The Church of St. Sophia, with its medieval architecture and frescoes, is one of the most important monuments in Macedonia. It is believed to have been built in the 9th century, the present church is a reconstruction of the 11th century, but the courtyard was built later, in the 14th century. In the second half of the 15th century, with the Ottomans, the church was transformed into a mosque and all the frescoes were covered with lime, the dome of the church was flattened, minarets were erected over the northwestern domes. Left abandoned in the first half of the 20th century, restorations carried out immediately after the Second World War revealed the frescoes again.
St. Jovan Kaneo
Saint John the Theologian or simply Saint John at Kaneo is a Macedonian Orthodox church situated on the cliff over Kaneo Beach overlooking Lake Ohrid in the city of Ohrid, North Macedonia. The church is dedicated to John of Patmos, the writer of Revelation, who has been by some considered to be the same person as John the Apostle. The construction date of the church remains unknown but documents detailing the church property suggest that it was built before the year 1447. Archaeologists believe that the church was constructed some time before the rise of the Ottoman Empire very likely in the 13th century. Restoration work in 1964 led to the discovery of frescoes in its dome

5.00We were able to get a unique experience of just me and my partner on the tour. Our guide Dimitri was fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly and gave us lots of advise on where else to explore during our visit! We only did the one hour due to time restraints but will be sure to book other tours with them in future! Nikola was also very helpful at ensuring we knew where to be and when. The scenery from the trip was breathtaking and learning so much about the history on the tour made it even better. Would thoroughly recommend! :)

5.00Highly recommended experience, we went on a boat 4 friends and left at 11 in the morning and returned around 6 in the afternoon. Nicola (the guide) the best. We made several stops and had flexibility in the schedule. I would definitely repeat again.

5.00Incredible treatment from Nicola. We booked restaurant when we arrived in one of the villages. At all times he was explaining and showing us the monuments and telling us stories. I'd definitely hire him back.

5.00I messaged about going for a wine tour but it was unfortunately unavailable, however Nikola went above and beyond to make the trip lovely! He asked what kind of wine I liked the evening before, and when I went on a panoramic tour I was given a glass of white wine completely free of charge (he even offered refills, and for me to keep the bottle)! The cruise was beautiful on its own, and well worth the price, but Nikola was really what made the trip absolutely outstanding. I hope to be back soon :)

3.00My wife and I booked the eastern shore trip to St. Naum Monastery which includes stops @ the Bay of Bones Museum and the Church of Mother Mary at Zaum. I booked it for €75 euro each which is high. I had read that you can walk up to boats at the pier and get the trip for €25 each. I chose to pay the premium because of B & F’s great reviews on TA, Nikola supposedly speaks great English and their boats looked very nice. I was also worried that there might not be many boats operating in mid-October. There was a miscommunication about the trip as Nikola thought I was interested in a private trip as opposed to a shared trip. (Seems like a website problem as I definitely submitted a request for the shared option.) On the morning of the trip he re-booked me with another boat. It was pretty bad - loud heavy metal music and a group of pensioners passing around a liter of cheap beer. It turned out that they put us on the wrong boat because it was an express to the monastery. They dropped us off at the Bay of Bones and another boat picked us up from there. Boat number 2 was fine and the captain was very good. Nikola dropped the price to €25 each which was sporting of him, but it’s also the going rate for the trip from what I could determine. I rated them a 3 because we ended up getting the trip we booked at a reasonable rate despite all the confusion. I do not recommend booking with them, though, as they charge premium prices and you could be traveling with anybody.

5.00We went on a boat trip with 6 friends and had an amazing day with Nikola. He is knowledgeable about the area, funny and relaxed. We officially booked a 6,5 hour private boat tour but we at least sped 8,5 hours on the water. There was no rush with Nikola and we had a great day.
