No travel experience is complete till you indulge in the local food! Old Delhi, which is synonyms with Chandni Chowk, is the food capital of India and if you want to enjoy the local food here, shed your high-brow attitude to soak in its flavors & delicacies. Chandni Chowk resembles a fair as its streets are lined with chaatwallahs (vendors selling a special savory snack), halwais (sweet sellers) and paranthewallahs (sellers of rich flaky breads). The aromas of good food in each and every corner is irresistible. So, come and join the celebration!
Tour is mainly conducted on Rickshaws and involves little walk. We will be sampling most of the unique items - Samosa, Bedmi Poori, Jalebi, Chaats, Kulfi, Gulab jamun, masala chai. Apart from sampling some amazing food, our food enthusiast (guide), briefs you about the city and its rich tradition, with the help of wireless audio headsets. Extreme care is taken regarding hygiene and safety.

Red Fort
We could not find few places on Google map and therefore could not include them in the list of attractions here, as they are Hidden :)! Red Fort is a UNESCO world heritage site. It was built by Mughal Emperor ShahJahan in 1648. It’s a beautiful grand palace cum fort. Today it is the largest non-functional fort in the world. During the War of Independence of 1857, the British army demolished more than 75 percent of the fort. However the remaining structures still reflect the technical excellence of the craftsmen of Mughal times. The Red Fort is still a beautiful link between the past and the present. Every year on Independence Day (Aug 15) the prime minister of India address the nation and hosts the national flag from here. We do not go inside the fort as it takes almost half a day to see its different palaces and gardens. We will be showing it to you from outside along with some rare old and new pictures
Sri Digambar Jain Lal Mandir
There were 4 religions which were born in India – Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism & Sikhism. Buddhism and Jainism are quite similar. Both these religions were originated around 599 BC. Both these religions follow the path of non violence towards all living beings. Jains are very environment friendly people and they don’t want to disturb the plants. This is the oldest temple of the Jain religion in the capital. It has ornate interiors of gold & silver. The main idol in the temple is that of Lord Parshvanath. The place is very peaceful and the ambience is really soothing. There is a bird hospital in the Jain temple premises founded in 1956 on the Jain principle of aversion to killing. Inside the birds hospital there is a research center, intensive care units, general wards and a place where they teach the birds to fly. At any point – 3000-5000 birds are in the hospital and around 60 birds are admitted per day.

5.00What an incredible experience! We explored the vibrant chaos of Old Delhi’s market on a rickshaw with our informative guide, Ahmer Khan. The vivid colors, bustling crowds, and tantalizing aromas of spices and incense truly captured the essence of the area. We highly recommend this tour for first-time visitors to Delhi!

5.00We researched a few tour companies before our trip to India and When In India's customer service, professionalism, flexibility and offering of unique experiences realyl set them apart from others. We had amazing tour guides in all cities we visited (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur and Varanasi.) The Old Delhi Rickshaw tour was absolutely wonderful. It was 4 hours but we could have easily spent 8 hours there. Ritu, our guide, was super friendly, knowledgeable and fun - and flexible if we wanted to stop for longer at certain spots to shop or try a delicacy. There was 5 on our tour, so a pair sat per rickshaw, and we could hear Ritu's narration through a headset. Old Delhi is a feast for the senses and this was an awesome way to experience it. I highly recommend this tour and When in India for planning your trip.

5.00This was our children's first trip to India. They are 11, 9, and 6 years old. Ritu and her crew were wonderful. We started with a bit of a history lesson and visited a bird hospital and Jain temple. We then boarded rickshaws to take us though Chandni Chowk. We visited spice markets (and bought a few lovely things we still savor), jewelry artisans, and other stops. Ritu provided headsets so she could narrate information about different parts of Chandni Chowk. We also visited Jamie Masjid- during a time of religious tension with Modi's new citizenship law, the tour was a welcome endorsement of India's multi faith heritage. We ended the tour with the tastiest jalebi and pooris I have ever eaten :) Highly recommend.

5.00For visitors travelling to Delhi: We had our hotel in the heart of Old Delhi, just next to the Jama Masjid Mosque, and we wanted to discover more about this particular and unusual world that is the oldest part of Delhi. Our guide, Ritu, picked us up at our hotel and welcomed us with great kindness and warmth. Throughout the visit, she was very precise and detailed in her explanations. She speaks clear English (a quality not common even among guides in India!). The visit to the main monuments of Old Delhi was fascinating, the explanation of the history of urban planning and architecture of this city was treated in an extensive and interesting way. Then, the rick shaw tour through the labyrinthine narrow streets of the old city's bazaars was an amazing experience as well. The colours, the scents of spices, the tingling of shopkeepers and residents, the way rick shaw drivers manage priority conflicts on the street, everything has been a pleasure for us. We also had a tasting of local vegetarian dishes included (really good). We think that for a thorough discovery of the city and culture of Old Delhi, this tour is really the ideal one. Congratulations to Ritu and his team of excellent rick shaw drivers for giving us a great insight into their city and culture in the space of a morning!!! We hope to be able to return to Old Delhi soon and plan other exciting tours with them. Notre guide, Ritu est venue nous chercher à notre hotel et nous a accueilli avec beaucoup de gentillesse et chaleur. Pendant toute la visite, elle a été très precise et riche en détail dans ses explications. Elle parle un anglais limpide (qualité non commune même parmi les guides en Inde!). La visite des monuments principaux d'Old Delhi a été passionnante, l'explication de l'histoire de l'urbanisme et de l'architecture de cette ville a été traitée de maniere approfondie et interessante. Puis, le tour en rick shaw dans les ruelles labyrinthiques des bazars de la vieille ville a été une expérience tout autant épatante. Les couleurs, les senteurs des épices, le fourmillement des commerçants et des habitants, la manière des conducteurs de rick shaw de gérer les conflits de priorité dans la rue, tout nous a plu de cette expérience. Nous avions aussi une dégustation de plats locaux végétariens inclus (vraiment bon). Nous pensons que pour une découverte approfondie de la ville et de la culture de Old Delhi, ce tour est vraiment l'idéal. Félicitation à Ritu et à son equipe d'excellent conducteurs de rick shaw pour nous avoir offert un bel aperçu de leur ville et de leur culture dans l'espace d'une matinée! 5.00If you’re traveling to New Delhi, don’t miss a wheels-on-the ground, walking and rickshaw tour de force of Old Delhi with When In India Tours. Our guide, Ritu, knew every turn and alleyway of this timeless and teeming walled city. Tour the crowded and byzantine streets of temples, spice markets, sacred sites, and endless shops of stunningly colorful fabrics, saris, and gowns, and learn the local lore (like the man who travels 40 miles each year to have his ears cleaned by a particular expert (really!). You can also take the food tour—a kind of moveable tasting menu of Indian street food that will treat your palate, but leave your stomach surprisingly intact. If you want to immerse yourself in the hubbub, the charm, the noise, the smells, and the eye-popping beauty of Indian culture, there’s no better way than this rickshaw tour of Old Delhi.

5.00Ritu is fantastic. The tour is a great way to venture into the chaos of Old Delhi in a luxury rickshaw. We have been on several tours with When in India. They have modified the tour slightly to cater to different guests needs and interests. I highly recommend booking them in advance!

5.00One of a group of 15 went on the Rickshaw Tour of Old Delhi and it was absolutely incredible; all of the "When In India" staff were friendly and knowledgeable and helpful; Ritu the leader was excellent as were all the rickshaw men who worked so hard and made a really tough job look easy. The tour itself was fascinating and would recommend anyone visiting Delhi to give "When In India" a call

5.00It was a great way to experience Old Delhi by trishaw! I confirmed the trip barely 12hrs beforehand. I WhatsApp the company and within the hour Ritu responded to me! We just grab an Uber to the meeting point which was easy to find! We got there early + the trishaws folks were already there waiting! Ritu is a helpful and cheerful and knowledgeable guide. The tour was well organized and very thoughtful - they provide cold water for everyone, wet wipes after visits, feet covers for temples that requires shoes off n mask as the spices smell at the spice market could get a lil overwhelming. At the end of the visit, we each received a nice lil souvenir book from Ritu. Old Delhi is well worth the visit with all her charms, n as Ritu aptly said - visiting Old Delhi is like visiting a live museum!

5.00Sit back and relax in the heart of chaotic Old Delhi. You hit all the important landmarks such as the Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, spice market and all the little streets and alleys in between! Great chances for photos, shopping and a great history lesson with pictures! Great for kids and teens aswell. Me and my sister did the tour as young females and felt safer than ever. Enjoy old Delhi street food and desserts as well as complimentary water bottles kept cool under your seats. A great price and great experience with a wonderful tour guide and friendly rickshaw drivers who are very attentive to your safety (especially while exiting the rickshaw in busy streets or looking for monkeys hanging in the trees). You almost won’t want the tour to end!

5.00Ritu took me on such an amazing trip through old delhi. We visited temples and markets, and I was really able to get a sense of what being in India was like with out the tourbus as a buffer. I highly recommend this tour! You'll have a wonderful time.
