Welcome to Khiva, a city frozen in time, where ancient walls whisper stories of Silk Road traders, mighty khans, and centuries of culture. On this walking tour, I invite you to explore the magic of Itchan Kala, the walled inner city of Khiva and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
As a local guide born and raised in Khiva, I’ll take you on a journey through narrow alleys, stunning madrassahs, majestic minarets, and lively courtyards. We’ll visit must-see landmarks like the Kalta Minor Minaret, Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasah, Kunya Ark, and the Juma Mosque, all while discovering hidden spots most visitors miss.
But this is more than a history lesson — it’s a chance to feel the spirit of Khiva. I’ll share local legends, cultural insights, and personal stories that bring the city to life. Along the way, you’ll get tips on where to eat, shop, and explore more during your stay.

We begin our journey at Ata Darwaza, the main entrance to the walled city of Itchan Kala. This impressive gate once welcomed caravans and traders traveling along the Silk Road. I’ll share how this gate played a vital role in Khiva’s defense and daily life, and give you an overview of what to expect inside this UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s the perfect place to step back in time and start our adventure.
This stunning madrasah was built in 1851 by Muhammad Amin Khan, one of Khiva’s most influential rulers. It was the largest Islamic school in the region at the time, with space for over 250 students. I’ll share stories about the Khan’s ambitious vision, the purpose of madrasahs in the past, and how this building still stands as a symbol of Khiva’s rich educational and architectural heritage.

5.00We had a great experience and a fantastic tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable on the history of Khiva and Uzbekistan as a whole. He ws able to answer all questions and gave time to both see the sites and take pictures/videos etc. I highly recommend this tour for your trip in Khiva. You basically get to visit all the main sites with thorough explanations.

5.00Sarvar was an excellent guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke fantastic English. Having grown up in Khiva old town, he was an expert in the local history and culture and it showed. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Khiva!

5.00This was a fabulous tour of some of the key sites in the old city in Khiva Our guide, Sarvar, was great. Put history into context, gave very clear explanations was thoughtful and considerate, and a really nice person. Hus English was excellent. One of them best guides we've had in Central Asia l.

5.00We had the most incredible time in Khiva, and it was largely thanks to Sarvar. From the moment he met us at the airport, we knew we were in good hands. He suggested a beautiful place for us to stay that was absolutely perfect. What I loved most was how Sarvar brought the history to life. He didn't just give us dry facts; he shared wonderful stories and anecdotes that kept us totally captivated. I probably asked him a hundred questions about Uzbek traditions and life today, and he was so patient, giving us such thoughtful and unique insights. He also took us to some "hidden gem" restaurants for authentic Uzbek food, completely away from the tourist crowds. It felt like we were getting a real, local experience rather than just a standard tour. If you’re going to Khiva, Sarvar is the person to call!

From the start, his friendly and approachable demeanor made my 15 year old son and I feel comfortable and welcome. 5.00I know the owner since 2018, he is so talented, motivated, and he has worked to improve himself very well. I’m very sure that a trip with this tour guide will take you to an outstanding level of understanding the old city of Khiva, when you walk in all of the old city with a local guide like him you will get the chance to deep dive into Khawarizim culture, which make you leave the city with unforgettable memory.
