On a bus tour of the area, we visited Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse. Our tour guide, Mark Fornes, told us stories about the area and specifically about the bridge and the lighthouse. His stories were interesting and kept us intrigued. We toured the lighthouse, seeing how the lighthouse keeper's family lived at the turn of the century. If you wanted, you could go up the steps to the top of the lighthouse. After viewing the lighthouse, we walked the grounds and went through the Shipwreck Museum in a close by building. Again, our tour guide had stories about shipwrecks that happened nearby. This was a good way to spend the morning.

This is a very small but significant lighthouse in the history of the Mackinac Straights. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. And the surrounding park is beautiful!

Just down the shore from Old Mackinac Fort. We enjoy history and to be able to see it is one of the reasons we travel around the US. This light house is well kept and gives you a hint of what it was like to live in a light house that was close to other people.

This was well worth the visit. We enjoyed all of the buildings with displays and videos. The walk up to the top of the lighthouse was so much fun, too. It is only 51 steps up, so it is not too difficult. The fog horn demonstration was also worth staying for.

The Keeper of the light was a very important person back 100 years ago. The very fate of the ship and the lives aboard it were dependent on the keeper. The guy we had depicted this life to a T. He was awesome

We enjoyed visiting the lighthouse and learning about its history. The tour guide for the lighthouse tower tour was great and very informative. If you visit, be sure to reserve your tour time when you purchase your ticket. If there is a chance of lightning, the lighthouse tour will be cancelled. It’s also a great location to see the Mackinac bridge up close.

I enjoyed the personal tour of the lighthouse from my tour guide. The guide was able to give the tour and also give a presentation to a group of schoolchildren. I liked how the guide took control of the kids and told them to calm down about the Mayflies, which are common in May. There is a 50th Anniversary book about the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald written by a local author in the gift shop.

Great fun. The exhibit the basement was interesting. And left me craving for more. We walked easily through this exhibit and store. The college friend was not allowed to ascend the stairs in the lighthouse because of her flip-flops. And waited patiently at the bottom for us the guide that took us up the stairs, was very professional, direct succinct, and a little too wordy, but he played the part well. And there was no crossing any lines with him. He had great information for us and then let us up to the tower. A great keeper he is. And a lovely view from the top it was.

Didn't get to go inside, but a neat place to walk around and see the bridge. There are some other buildings there as well to read about.
