More than just a drive, this journey offers an immersive and interactive way to truly experience Taroko Gorge and Hualien
The safest and easiest way to reach Taroko Gorge from Taipei is by train. Pick-up is available at your Hualien hotel or Hualien Train Station. Staying one night in Hualien is recommended for a relaxed trip, but a day trip is also possible with an early train and evening return. Driving is not recommended due to long mountain roads, falling rocks, and fast trucks. The train is safer and hassle-free
Due to ongoing road controls and traffic restrictions in the mountain area, pick-up and drop-off at Silks Place Taroko are not available
Weather conditions in mountainous areas can change quickly. Light rain or cloudy weather does not necessarily result in cancellation, and tours generally operate as scheduled in normal rainy conditions. Cancellations or refunds due to weather apply only when the tour is deemed unsafe to operate by the operator or local authorities, typically in cases of natural disasters such as typhoons or flooding

Taroko National Park
One of Taiwan’s most famous destinations, Taroko National Park is known for its marble canyons, lush forests, and towering peaks. The Liwu River has carved the stunning 18 km Taroko Gorge, where sheer marble cliffs rise above turquoise waters. Our visit includes highlights such as the Taroko Gorge Entrance Arch, Visitor Center, and scenic viewpoints along the gorge. Although some trails remain closed due to the April 2024 earthquake, your experienced guide will take you to the best open spots with breathtaking views and hidden photo opportunities. We dedicate a significant part of the day to exploring Taroko, with short walks, plenty of photo stops, and a relaxed pace. Sightseeing duration may vary with traffic, weather, or park rules, but your guide will adjust the itinerary to ensure the best experience. This full-day tour usually lasts around 8 hours, so starting before 8:30 AM is recommended.

5.00We had a wonderful day exploring the Taroko Gorge and Hualien with Sam. He picked us up promptly at our hotel and off we went on a full day of sighting. The stunning natural beauty of the Taroko Gorge is well worth seeing and you really need a guide with local knowledge to get the most out of it, especially given the Gorge is still recovering from the devastating earthquake of April 2024. Sam took the time to share his knowledge of the history, culture and nature of the region. He also adapted the itinerary as there were roadworks which restricted the timings we could pass. Sam mentioned prior to the earthquake he also guided hikes in the Gorge which would have been fun indeed. We hope the region continues to rebuild and recover. Thank you Sam for all your hard work and a memorable day in Taiwan.

5.00Jimmy was such a wonderful guide. The tour was so much more than I expected. Jimmy knows so much about the area, he knows all the best spots to get the perfect photo, he has such extensive knowledge about the trees, fruit and flowers. He was very easy-going and happy to be flexible with what we needed (such as coffee and mochi!). I would highly recommend this tour - particularly with Jimmy - to anyone visiting Hualien.

5.00Alex was an incredible guide!!! I would recommend the early 7am time. The Toroko Gorge is pretty much all yours at that time. So much beauty to see in Hualien, and having such a great guide like Alex, makes a difference. Wonderful experience from the first minute to the last minute. Beautiful views everywhere, and it was nice having such a well-crafted itinerary!

5.00Our tour guide Sam was calm, patient, and deeply knowledgeable about Hualien. He is a true local who has lived here most of his life and showed us around town in a private car with smooth pickup and drop-off. He went at our pace, and never made us feel rushed which I really appreciated. We were able to ask lots of local questions and gain a genuine understanding of the local way of life. Our most memorable part was the private tour of Taroko Gorge, a truly one-of-a-kind experience that can only be had in Hualien, Taiwan. I highly recommend a private tour for a more customized, go-at-your-own-pace experience.

5.00This day tour was the highlight of my trip. My tour guide, Alex, was super knowledgeable and very friendly. It felt like I was spending the day with one of my old friends and I had a great time spending the day with him. The gorge itself is absolutely beautiful. There are no words to describe it. Even though the trails were closed while I was visiting, driving through was a breathtaking experience. Alex has a wealth of knowledge on the history in the area, which definitely added to the experience. I would recommend these folks to anyone.

5.00Our guide Alex gave a great tour. It was a full day covering both Taroko park and Hualien. We got to see amazing sceneries and learn the historical background. He took us to many spots and spent good quality time in each one. We would have only seen a small fraction by ourselves. It was adventurous and educational. His outgoing personality made the trip so much more fun for us too. Well worth the money and I would highly recommend it, especially for people going there for the first time.

5.00Had one day in Hualien and I decided to join a tour to make it easy. Turns out I was the only one that booked and so it was the guide, Alex, and myself. There are still bits and pieces of Taroko not open and it would take days of exploring to go to all the spots, even with only parts open. Alex was great and showed me a lot of interesting places most of which without a vehicle I would have missed. He was great!

5.00The tour was a great experience. My guide, Sam was knowledgeable and flexible. He kindly gave me detailed explanations for the view and also proposes good options on each occasion. Taroko National Park was partly closed (especially trails) but it's not only sorry, also gave me how powerful the earthquake was and make us humble. I hope that the closed trails will be reopened soon and come back again to experience further.
