Discover the majestic Oslo fjord and its islands like a local, hopping on and off ferries to hike the forests, sea cliffs, charming villages and historic sites of two-three islands (season-dependant). With a local guide, explore the fascinating ruins of a nearly 1000 year old abbey, picnic on a hidden beach (Oct-Mar, a small stop with hot drinks will be provided) and walk the flower-covered paths of a village full of brightly painted, traditional wooden cabins. The backdrop for this tour is the stunning water views of Oslo and its surrounding hills, with picture opportunities around every unexpected corner. Don't forget a swim suit and towel in the Summer months as there is time for a swim in the surprisingly warm waters of the Oslo fjord! Time for a picnic lunch is included and participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch. Good walking shoes or trail shoes are recommended as the hiking is done on dirt paths, gravel and stones.

Highly recommend this island hopping tour w/ Lars as your tour guide. He provided a great experience that exceeded expectations. We started and ended on time. He overlayed the island activity w/ in-depth Norwegian culture knowledge that made the time together special. He also encouraged a group dynamic that enhanced the tour even more.

I really enjoyed this experience. I went with a group of 5 (including myself) and the total group only had about 15 people in total which was great. The hike (which I did in flip flops but would highly recommend more substantial footwear) took us to 3 different islands. The first was to see one of the cottage islands, which was beautiful to wander around for an hour and really relaxing. The second was to grass island, which was beautiful and had Oslo’s original airport. A slightly shorter amount of time on the second island but the views should never be missed. The last island was the main island, where we has a beautiful view, got to see ruins and could take a swim in the Oslo Fjords. Rebecca, our tour guide was fantastic. She stopped to share key pieces of information along the way, kept the pace manageable for all the members of the group, and shared her clear love of her country with us. I would highly highly recommend doing this tour. A small thing to note - in the description, it says there are places to stop for food along the way. While the main island there is a restaurant (which has amazing food - try the muscles), it’s not really a stop so I would recommend brining your own food.

Such a wonderful time exploring the islands with our guides Christian and Tara. Christian was so knowledgeable about the islands and we really got to explore them in great detail. They all three were lovely and different. Loved seeing all the Norwegian cottages! And the old Monastery ruins were fascinating! It was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend!

This hike gives you a little bit of the flavor of the islands in the fjords of Norway. The scenery is just breathtaking and all we walked about 5 miles and it wasn’t strenuous at all.
