  Avoid at all costs! I stupidly went here without researching the welfare of the majestic whales first, that was a big mistake!! These whales are fed shrimp feed to keep them trapped and when I say trapped they are in a very small area behind nets so they can’t naturally migrate and swim freely in the ocean! This is incredibly cruel and just a circus to make money! It is overcrowded , and mayhem . Once I realised what was going on and saw for my own eyes the utter cruelty , carnage and madness surrounding these sharks I refused to take part in promoting the cruelty, my tour guide was really shocked and didn’t understand it? I explained loudly why it’s cruel and everyone else present were promoting this. All the tour representatives and government should be ashamed this is being allowed to happen! THIS NEEDS TO STOP!!!! Please cancel and find another means to enjoy your stay don’t take part in this cruelty for “ that photo “! Research before booking , the whales are being kept behind nets in shallow water with so many people in with them it’s so un-natural and must be very stressful for them, they are being prevented to migrate and forced to eat the shrimp that’s provided solely to keep them there which in turn is harmful to them and their health. Their health declines and this obviously has a massive consequences for them, they naturally move within a in family unit and migrate and this is being prevented instead there being kept behind nets and take strikes from boats and humans who are over excited at this spectacle! It’s disgusting and if you take part you should be ashamed!!! Please help the whale sharks by NOT paying to take part in promoting this cruelty!!!

  The experience with whale sharks is beautiful, the others (Island, Monkeys) are not unique. I paied an extra fee since we were three rather than four, but overall I can recommend the experience

  The whale sharks were absolutely magical - worth it for that alone. Our driver and guide were kind, but the car smelled unpleasant and the tour details weren’t clear. The boat wasn’t private as expected, and the guide crossed some personal boundaries by asking for selfies and sharing stories that felt like asking for money. Still, swimming with the whale sharks was unforgettable and knowing the boats are government-run for protection was reassuring.

• You well be close to whale sharks, and get to swim next to them.

  Our experience was awesome, we had great tour guide Gene. Gene took care of all of our belongings, made sure we got to the whale sharks briefing and boat loading zone. She was very entertaining helpful and enthusiastic. The tour company was trek tours, which we booked through viator. We saw plenty of whale sharks, they are friendly, one even snuck right under our boat without us even noticing him until he was right next to us. After the tour our guide recommended a brief tour of tumalog waterfall, which was at no cost to us. The waterfall was beautiful, romantic and they have the fish that eat the dead skin off of your feet. All in all, I would highly highly recommend this experience.

  To flee absolutely!! Our tour started very badly, this “activity”, even if it supports some local people, looks more like a large amusement park. From hundreds of people are launched near whale sharks that are fed abundantly. No distance with these majestic creatures, who kick each other by tourists ready to do anything to have the best possible picture....I am ashamed to have participated in this circus....but I must take and make you this deplorable feedback.... There are other islands where whitewater encounters are organized, of course the encounter is not guaranteed, but it is respectful.

  The whales are therefore concentrated in one place surrounded by one of the nets, which make the area an enclosure, far from their natural space, chain boats with dozens of tourists on them leave every 5min, so that in one morning more than a thousand tourists could swim with these locked whales. A regulation is in place but very little respected (distance to 5m, do not touch...) people panic and touch the animals. To take their best picture people try to get as close as possible. This system is not tolerable, and other cities offer to see them in their natural state by protecting and respecting them. To flee!!!!!!

  If you require a tour guide and driver for Whale Watching, look for Rex +63 956 037 7590 He can pick you up from Cebu City to Oslob and look for a boat guide for whale watching. Be prepared to get ready at 4:30am because the trip from Cebu to Oslob is almost 4 hours. Enjoy!
