If you are a visitor that truly wants to see and understand the unique ecosystems, wildlife, culture, geology and botany of the Otago Peninsula then join this tour.
A tour designed by the Otago Peninsula's longest serving wildlife ranger.
We see a variety of wildlife species along the way (Note: seasonal).
At Pukekura we have a good chance to see seals nearby & albatross flying overhead.
Later we join our Blue Penguins Pukekura Experience tour, see the world's smallest penguin emerging from the sea and walking past us just metres away. Note: Others join us for this experience (max 75)
PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALLOWED (no flash)

As a Charitable Trust our aim is to look after our reserve and protect the Otago Peninsula's largest penguin colony. Equally we are committed to making our tours one of the most memorable experiences visitors to New Zealand can have.

Suitable for all physical fitness levels
For pick up at Larnach Castle you MUST BE BOOKED TO STAY AT THEIR ACCOMMODATION.
Please note , Children must be at least 6 years old to participate in this tour.
To participate children must be at least 6 years old (Vehicles don't carry small child restraints)
Visitors need to be able to manage stairs (about 30 stairs inbuilt along our walkway leading to our viewing platform). Tour and vehicles are not suitable for very young children.
Bring warm clothes we are outside for much of the tour, it can get very cold after dark.
Note we can't have umbrellas on the penguin viewing platform as eye risk to others

5.00Fabulous scenery and information. James the guide was such a lovely person and gave great info and took us on a tour of the peninsulla before arriving to see the penquins. An amazing experience. My sole reason for travelling to this part of New Zealand. And i certainly wasnt disappointed. So well managed with the welfare of the penquins first priority as it should be

5.00This was a fantastic tour and very informative around the Otago Peninsula. We were able to stop along the way and take in the scenery and wildlife. The Blue Penguin part of the tour was the highlight and also very informative. It was great to be able to view these little creatures come to shore from their hunt in the ocean for food.

5.00It gets REALLY cold after dark so bring a proper jacket. Shaun (sp) was an amazing guide. She was so knowledgeable about the history of that area, as well as the marine life. Great tour and exceptional guide!

5.00This was a fabulous experience with James who was an expert guide. We learnt so much about Dunedin, the local flora and fauna, the fascinating bird like and of course the Blue penguins.
You've not dun Dunedin until you've p.p.p.picked up a penguin (tour)

5.00Very well organised tour with knowledgeable (and entertaining) guide/driver in Sian. Gave us in-depth insight (and mythology) of the scenery, wildlife, culture and history of the area and its delights. All our needs catered for. And the highlight of the tour, the blue penguins, arriving onshore after days out at sea, was perfectly timed and supported by our three guides giving us a pre-show history of the region, the development of the colony and the day to day life if the tiny blue stars. Five star tour and great value for money.
