Safari Ostrich Farm is a working ostrich farm 6 km outside Oudtshoorn. This is the only tractor tour on an ostrich farm in South Africa. Our 1 hour guided tours are focused on you having a wonderful interactive encounter with Ostriches. On our Tour you will learn something new about the world’s largest bird.
Lunch will be served at a restaurant in Oudtshoorn where a portion of ostrich meat can be sampled as part of a Karoo plate.
The Cango Caves are one of the Seven Wonders of South Africa, and an archaeological and historical highlight of the Klein Karoo. It lies 30 km outside Oudtshoorn. From the entrance, a flight of stairs takes you down to the huge Van Zyl’s Hall, an amazing cave that’s 107m long, 54m at its widest and up to 17m in height. You can also look forward to seeing other formations like the 10m high Cleopatra’s Needle (estimated to be about 150 000 years old), the Organ Pipes, the Ballerina and the Frozen Waterfall.

Cango Caves

5.00Johann picked us from our guest house hotel as requested at a later time than the tour advertised - to accommodate breakfast . He struck an easy rapport on meeting, was very informative, and clearly knew the locations and history inside out - always adding to what the local venue guides were saying - whether geology, commercial background or the human angle The minibus transport was nicely air-conditioned and comfortable. Well worthwhile to have a personal guide and Johann was good company through the day.

Johann Gerber knowledge, guidance, and storytelling throughout the trip truly brought each place to life and made the entire journey unforgettable. His passion and attention to detail ensured that we felt informed, comfortable, and well taken care of at every step. Both Johann Gerber and his partner went above and beyond to make our trip special. Their warmth, kindness, and genuine effort made us feel completely at ease, and they created memories our kids will cherish for a very long time. This experience will stay with us, and our children will definitely remember Johan for years to come. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable and well-guided experience

5.00Great day out to the Kango Caves and Ostrich Farm- don't miss either of these! Johann our guide for the day was excellent - provided individual service of the highest standard. Our accommodation was 15km outside Oodsthoorn and nowhere near the stated pickup points, but a message to Johann and he immediately agreed to pick us up at our hotel. His knowledge and expertise was invaluable to us getting the most out of the day, with little tips throughout on what to do, where to stand for the best photos, etc, And rounded off with lunch at the most wonderful place overlooking a waterhole with wildlife- where Johann ensured that we got the best table for views ( of course!!). We would very highly recommend! Many thanks, Johann!

5.00Excellent service provided by Johan. 1. Professionalism : Johan arrived 20 minutes before scheduled time and gave short overview before we left the hotel. 2. Knowledge: Along the way Johan explained about the name of the mountain, mountain passes and geographical layout of the towns. 3. Ostrich Farm: Extensive background information was given about the farm and the ownership of the farm. 4. Cango Caves. Details of the history of the cave and its formation. The inside tour was done by Eric with Johan giving us additional information about the cave.

He flexed the tour to meet requests and timescales - thank you so much - making the tour super enjoyable. He drove very well and the vehicle was extremely comfy. 5.00We had a fantastic time with Johann. He is extremely knowledgeable about the fauna and flora, history, and geology of the area. We started at the Ostrich farm, after which we grabbed a coffee on the way to the Cango Caves. We ended with a nice lunch, overlooking a watering hole. All in all a great time.

5.00We had a great experience exploring the Cango Caves and the Ostrich farm with our guide Mr. Johann Gerber. He helped us with interesting trivia and history about the town of Oudtshoorn on our way. During our time at Cango caves and Ostrich farm we were helped with interesting facts which helped us get a broader perspective. He also clicked some lovely candid photos for us while we were trying to feed the Ostriches and shared it with us later over WhatsApp. Finally we ended our day with a scrumptious lunch included in the package with a wonderful lake view at the Buffelsdrift Game Lodge where we sampled some Ostrich meat as well. We were lucky to see 3 Hippopotamus get into the lake for a bath, a giraffe and 3 elephants - which was really an add on experience. Overall had a great time chatting with Mr. Gerber about his travel experiences over lunch which has definitely given us some bucket list for the future. Highly recommend trying this experience when in South Africa and it's a great value for money.

5.00We really enjoyed everything about this tour, from getting up close to the ostriches and exploring the amazing the caves to a lovely spot for lunch. Our guide for the day was Johann and he was very knowledgeable of the area and really took care of us for the day.
