Tsavo West shares its northeast boundary line with Tsavo East National Park, and together these two parks form one of the world’s largest national parks. The terrain within Tsavo West National Park is quite varied and includes acacia woodlands, expansive savannah grasslands, scrublands, rocky ridges, volcanic remnants and riverine ecosystems. Prominent natural landmarks include Mzima Springs in the central region of the park including the Shetani lava flow on the western precinct and Lake Jipe and Chala in the southwestern corners. The nutrient-rich soil supports more than 1,000 plant species that provide wildlife and avi-fauna with food, shelter and nesting sites.

Pick up from your Nairobi hotel or Airport in the morning drive to Tsavo west national park which is a less 6 hrs drive. you will arrive with short Game en-route to Severin Safari Camp. In the afternoon you will go for game drive tsavo West offers some of the most magnificent game viewing in the world and attractions include elephant, rhino, Hippos, lions, cheetah, leopards, Buffalos, diverse plant and bird species. Later Dinner and overnight at Severin Safari Camp.
Mzima Springs
Mzima springs is an oasis of green in the Tsavo west National park that produces an incredible 250 million litres of fresh water a day, the springs whose source rises in the Chyulu hills, provides the bulk of Mombasa ‘s fresh water, walking trail leads along the shoreline, during the year of 2009 the drought took heavy toll on the springs’ hippo population, the population is stable at around 20 individuals, there are also crocodiles and a wide variety of birds.

5.00It was a thoroughly successful safari from the pickup to the end. We were picked up on time at our hotel in the morning and warmly greeted by our guide Tim and our driver Freddy. We booked the safari with a German-speaking guide and received one as well. Tim speaks very good German, so there were no communication problems at all. Tim always had an answer to each of our questions. Our safari was in Tsavo West, a protected area of about 10,000 square kilometers. Our driver Freddy was very familiar with the area. He also knew when and where the animals would be. We had a total of three outings, each going in a different direction from the park. The terrain was always different. We were able to see many animals. Overall, it was a successful safari with Tim and Freddy. We would go on a safari with the two of them again at any time.

5.00We only had two days to experience a safari and we picked a great one! While the 6 hr drive was tiring, when we got to Tsavo west, our safari began. We saw animals as we bounced to the Severin Safari Lodge. What a great surprise! It was beautiful and peaceful. After a delicious lunch we were out to see animals again. The next morning, we were out again. We had not seen an elephant and our driver made an extra effort to find one. Highly recommend.
