Enjoy a full-day trip to the Pacaya Volcano from Guatemala City and discover the beauty of this natural gem! Towering over 8,000 feet (2,438 meters) above sea level, Pacaya is considered Guatemala's most active volcano. After pickup from your Guatemala City hotel, head southeast about 15 miles (25 km) to the base of Pacaya, where you’ll embark on a 2.5-hour hike up the volcano with your expert guide. Enjoy a mild walk to a viewing spot at the lagoon of Calderas and take in panoramic views of the Agua, Fuego and Acatenango volcanoes. Once you arrive at a plateau along the trail, marvel at spectacular views of the Guatemala landscape and see the main crater of the volcano. To ensure your safety, you won’t be able to visit the crater, but you will get an amazing view of red-hot lava flowing and steam baths created by the heat of Pacaya. Take a break and relax here as you take in more scenic views before hiking back to the base of the volcano.

5.00We had a wonderful hiking tour and really enjoyed the whole experience. Our driver Gustavo arrived about 10 minutes early to pick us up, which was great. He’s very funny and easy to talk to. He speaks Spanish, great English, German, and even a little Japanese. The ride was honestly a lot of fun. Our tour guide Alan was also amazing. He’s very easygoing and informative. During the hike we chatted a lot and had some really great conversations. He was very patient, always checking on us, and encouraged us to take breaks when needed, which we really appreciated. The views were absolutely breathtaking, with lots of great photo spots along the way. We also stopped midway to roast marshmallows over the volcanic heat, which was such a fun and unique experience. We were also lucky to have great weather that day. Overall, it was an amazing experience — honestly a 10/10 for us.

5.00Hiking up Volcano Pacaya was such an unforgettable experience! Our tour guide was absolutely amazing—so kind, patient, and encouraging the entire way up, especially as I needed plenty of breaks to adjust to the altitude. I also had so much fun practicing my Spanish with her, which made the experience even more special. The views along the hike were stunning, and reaching the top felt incredibly rewarding. One of the highlights was getting to roast marshmallows over the volcanic heat—such a unique and fun moment! Overall, it was an incredible adventure filled with beautiful scenery, great conversation, and unforgettable memories. Highly recommend!

5.00The hike to the volcano was somewhat challenging going up to the volcano and our group took frequent breaks. No rush to the top. It took about an hour and fifteen minutes to reach the top and WOW, what a view. Next stop on the way down we roasted marshmallows in the steam/heat from the ground. What an experience. Definitely worth it.

5.00Marvin was a very good tour guide through the volcano, and was very knowledgeable and informative. He made sure we were comfortable and allowed us plenty of rest stops while going up the volcano. The hike up is pretty hard but the hike down is easy and it is 100% worth it once you get to the top, and he even brought us marshmallows to roast in the volcano.

5.00The guide was amazing. The horse going up was great. We roasted marshmallows in lava vents. It was a great experience. If you have any feet and ankle issues, you might want to take a horse. The views were spectacular!

5.00Excellent tour. One of a kind experience for my family & I. Horses are available to rent which makes this trip more enjoyable. I highly recommend this trip to anyone that enjoys hiking and love nature.

5.00Im giving this 5 stars strictly because of the driver and the wonderful couple that rode with us I didnt actually get to do the hike my lady started to feel sick and she comes first the driver understood that and we basically just ended up turning around and going home but he went out of his way to make sure WE were OK and that is what you want when you are alone in a foreign land and you dont speak the language I appreciate the compassion so much and that Is priceless I would certainly use their services again and I plan on it I still learned alot because he was educating us on everything as we traveled this country is so beautiful I plan on learning more Spanish and coming back to see more ❤️ 🇬🇹

5.00It is not an easy hike but you can always catch a horse ride!! Beautiful scenery at the top. Also the coconut/coffee stand at exit is run by an amazing couple! Our driver and guide was amazing and knowledgeable and very patient and spoke excellent English. Melville our guide to the top of volcano was very good as was the woman who came with us!

1.00Tour information indicated that we would see a red hot lava flow. It did not exist. Also the tour company kept stopping at souvenir stores so they could get their commission.
