You try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.
At our UNAWATUNA DIVING CENTRE we have around 16 different Dive Sites with different depth from 6 to 30 m we offer Reef Dives, Rock Dives, Wreck Dives and Night Dives.
Hard and soft corals are at the most reef dive sites up to 18 m unfortunately rare.
At the reefs you can find a lot of macro staff, many different nudibranchs, different coral fish of the Indian Ocean, Sting Rays on the sandy bottom.
At the deeper Unawatuna Dive Sites, there are mostly rocky areas with deep valleys to explore. Close to the Galle harbor dive sites there are our wreck dive sites on a sandy ground with the famous "Rangoon" Wreck on a depth of 30 m, the SS Oreste on a depth of 22 m and the Galle Ship Wreck with a depth of 18 m.
The most soft corals and fish live at the two deeper wrecks. Mostly there are hundreds and thousand of Sweet Lips and different other fish.

*Please note that the PADI Fee (for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Manual and PADI certification costs) of total 70 Euros is not included in the course fee. If you want to take the theory of the course online by PADI AOWD eLearning you have to purchase it on the PADI website and register for PADI AOWD eLearning with our diving centre Divinguru Unawatuna, PADI 5 Star Dive Resort, S-36133. Minimum Certification Age is 12 Yrs+ Course Content and Schedule The PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE takes around 2 to 3 days and includes 5 adventure dives. You will have to do some theory for each dive (without exam) for around half a day and then 2 or 3 dives per day. Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation are mandatory and then you can choose 3 more adventure dives (wreck, boat, peak performance buoyancy, fish ID and so on) with one of our PADI Dive Instructors. If you start in the morning, you have to be at our diving centre at 8.30 am for registration. For the afternoon registration you have to be at our Diving Centre at 1.30 pm.

5.00This is a very well run school and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We had a highly experienced instructor who was able to get me to feel comfortable under water and to really enjoy my experience. Also extremely patient, we were able to practice and repeat different skills, some of these fairly difficult! thankyou Norbert, I had a fantastic experience and wont forget my first dive In open water!

5.00Fabulous experience. Friendly and professional. Excellent communication organisation. My 16yr old daughter did her Advanced Diving qualification with Ellie. She had a truly wonderful time. Ellie exokained things winderfully. Made her feel comfortable and at ease, and hadblirs of fun. My daughter felt confident and safe at all times andd thoroughly enjoyed herself throughtput the 3 days. We would highly recommend them.

5.00I did the AOWD and Enriched Air Diver, as well as some fun dives at Divinguru in Unawatuna and felt very comfortable. Norbert and Ellie organize everything incredibly well and conscientiously and the whole team works super professionally. All the equipment is high quality and in very good condition. I really enjoyed getting to know the underwater world of the south coast with the Divingurus. I can definitely recommend the diving school!

5.00The pre-arrival coordination, AOWD course instruction, and dives were 10/10; can quite confidently say the dive shop is amongst the crème de la crème in Sri Lanka. Shout out to my instructor, Tarush for killing it. For my AOWD they were very flexible with my preferences, chose the wreck, night and enhanced air along with the deep and nav. Despite conditions being initially bad for the night dive, Tarush hung around with me for a couple more days (no time restrictions as I'm based in LK) until it was safe enough to do the night dive. Major kudos to them for accommodating my request as opposed to forcing me to chose an alternative. In addition to the AOWD, signed up further to do the nitrox certification - the instructions/risks/limits on this was discussed with intrinsic detail. My research pointed out that this shop may be a wee-bit more expensive than its peers, but no question that premium is justified. The equipment/professionalism/safety is unparalleled, and it's quite obvious to see as you check out other shops in the area. No question will definitely dive with them again, and I've already sent a discover diver their way (one who loved her first bubbles experience).

5.00We did our advanced open water qualification with Supun. He was outstanding and a real pleasure to learn with - so calm and patient but with a great sense of fun. We felt completely at ease with him and couldn't have felt safer. Great guy. Great equipment. Great time.
