TO CRUISERS: the port of Messina town is far away from the city of Palermo, if you are docking in Messina, do not book this tour. We can't provide a refund if you realize this passed the deadline.

The tour is suitable for vegetarians and pescatarians, except one food stop. Alternatives to celiac travelers can be provided if we are informed at the time of booking.

4.00This was a great tour to see some of the less touristy foodie parts of the city, it is quite a lot of food so dont have a big breakfast or lunch beforehand! Our guide was great, she had great knowledge of the city and is clearly a Palermitan at heart! It was a little unfortunate for us as one of our group of 8 friends had an uncomfortable tummy before we started and some of the others in the group weren't keen on trying some of the Sicilian delicacies (spleen sandwiches!). It was also very hot, however, I enjoyed the tour and we saw bits of Palermo that we wouldn't otherwise see. Would definitely recommend, but be prepared to be a little adventurous! The were plenty of places to buy water along the tour and it does include some nice Sician beer too.

3.00I read the entire itinerary and was aware the food would mostly be fried/carb heavy. That said, the food we tried was completely underwhelming and the restaurants did not appear to be local favorites. This could be due to the fact that the city was mostly closed due to the holiday and/or it being an evening tour. It felt like it was selected more for proximity and partnerships, rather than it being good. I think the added commentary and group dynamics did not make the experience worth it for the money and I left feeling like I should have either selected the morning tour (where you visit the markets and have more food options) or venturing on my own. I did find better food the following day. That said, I can appreciate our guide for encouraging us to try new things (spleen sandwich). Where the tour was a bit off and chaotic for me is that I don’t think the group and our guide had much common ground nor were they enjoying the food, so it overall just wasn’t fun. Our guide was very kind but I could tell he was losing his patience a bit and his/the group’s humor was lost in translation, with both parties appearing a bit offended by the end of the night. For whatever reason at the last stop, the tour ended instead of walking to the meeting place which was fine for me but the older members were a bit lost on getting back. Overall, I’d recommend exploring on your own or select the morning tour where you’d likely see and try more things. Just have a lot of patience for the group/leader and understand that the food is very hit or miss.

5.00Wonderful food tour. Engaging and friendly tour guide. The only issue was that the meeting location link on TripAdvisor confirmation email was incorrect and we missed the original date of the tour. Fortunately, the street food walking tour organizers arranged for us to do the tour the following day - but did tell us they were not responsible for the error on TripAdvisor’s part.

5.00Alessandro is a vibrant, knowledgeable, and inspiring tour guide. Highly recommend this tour. Worked our way through crowded places with ease, and learned how to cross the street safely. Very important! And of course ate much delicious food. As an added bonus, everyone seems to know Alessandro and like him.
