Pungtud Island
Virgin Island (also known as Pungtud or Pontod Island) is probably the most iconic island destinations in Bohol. Its main draw: a lengthy sandbar that curls and fades into the sea like the tail of a mischievous tadpole (or a sperm cell; there, we said it). The sandy runway makes for a postcard perfect backdrop!

3.00We just came back from the island hopping tour (without the dolphin watching) and wanted to write some feedback as there few in between. Here are some things I wished someone would have told me before we went: - Wear sensible sea shoes not thongs. You’re likely to be asked to walk along the shallow sea shore to the boat, but the sea floor is full of sea urchins and rocks. - Bring ear plugs. The boat motor we were in was bloody LOUD - if you’re doing the snorkelling the boat takes you to the Balicasag island, then you have to register for a smaller canoe. I think this is their way to conserve the place. In busy season get ready to wait 30min to get called for the canoe. Once you get called you are put in a small canoe and go towards the snorkelling area, however you are there with hundreds of other canoes. You end up snorkelling with hundreds of people and canoes around you. It wasn’t a pleasant experience. If I have any advice is to plan the snorkelling in the afternoon after the rush hour. - make sure you don’t get charged twice (eg entrance fee to Virgin Island, or for snorkelling masks) if your tour is “all inclusive”. Overall I think the snorkelling experience is ok but we did see some turtles which made it worthwhile. We were very frustrated with the system, it’s very inefficient
