I offer you a delicious culinary escapade in the image and taste of my love for Papeete, the city where I was born. An immersion in my life in Tahiti, the island where I was born and flourished as a Polynesian and citizen of the world. We will start with a typical breakfast, seated around our famous raw fish in coconut milk. Then, it is to the rhythm of all our tastings (minimum 10) that I will guide you through the city, its history and its flavors. I will show you the addresses that mark my daily life: from the famous Papeete market to the little hidden gems that are close to my heart. Throughout this morning together, we will explore and celebrate the vibrant culinary culture of Papeete, the flavors, stories and characters behind everything we will taste together. From local specialties, to snacks from my childhood, to modern street food, Papeete will not leave you hungry!

The Papeete Food Tour is a well organized and well paced walking tour led by two competent and friendly local women and featuring a wide and interesting variety of food options in downtown Papeete. We started in a traditional Polynesian breakfast cafe for a fabulous local breakfast and moved on to an old school Chinese snack shop, concluding with a trendy French-Tahitian fusion restaurant featuring tuna burgers on brioche rolls. And there were plenty of delightful snacks along this leisurely stroll, including a visit to the city farmers market for fresh fruit and a stop for local limeade and vanilla and coconut ice cream. This tour introduced us to the best food and produce Tahiti has to offer.

An absolutely delightful morning. We learned so much about Tahitian food and got a lovely tour of downtown Papeete into the bargain. I thought it was rather pricey when I booked the tour but when I saw the preparation and care that went into the tour, I realised it was worth every penny. Highly recommend!

We have done food tours in many countries and this was one of the best. Orama is passionate and knowledgeable and the group is no more than 6. Great tastes- I think we ate more than 10 items. Highly recommend.

The food tour was excellent. We started with a coffee and coconut milk and a fresh baked treat. We had so many different dishes and they were all excellent. The tour guide was very knowledgable and shared about the Tahitian culture. I highly recommend this tour.

Orama was a wonderful guide! We not only learned about the local food but also about the history and culture itself. We took our family of four which includes two teenagers and we ate every bit of deliciousness Orama introduced us to. Definitely recommend!!!

We went on Orama’s food tour our first morning in Pape’ete. What a fantastic way to immerse ourselves in the food and culture of the island of Tahiti. Orama not only introduced us to some great local spots for authentic local favorites but she also took us to a pearl shop where we learned about the process of culturing black pearls in French Polynesia and a pareo shop where we learned how to tie a pareo in a variety of ways. A highlight was visiting and tasting our way through the Marché de Pape’ete. Orama’s love of her island home is infectious and her knowledge so informative. She has carefully choreographed a full morning of tastings and exploration of Pape’ete that should satisfy everyone interested in learning about local food and culture.

One of the best food tours we have ever been on! Orama was the perfect host and guide. We learned so much about Tahitian food and what influences it. It’s an excellent way to be oriented spatially to the heart of Papeete and culturally to the rich heritage that the city offers. Orana moved seamlessly between French and English and took us to places that we would not have known about nor would we have known how or what to order. It’s a very good introduction to the food that ordinary Tahitians eat as well as aspects of the culture that a visitor would not otherwise be aware of. And the fact that the tour is limited to just a few people is a huge plus. Highly recommended.

This was literally a perfect day. We did a lot in and around Papeete, and this was the favorite. Orama was so friendly, knowledgeable, and interactive. She seems to know everyone and everything. There we so many cultural insights, every day ins and outs, and little nuances she shared from the secret to making sure you got a coconut brioche or fish beignet, to the best time to avoid the foodie crowds. It was a great day!! We're so grateful we picked this! Thank you Orama!
