• Alfredo: The Best Paricutin Volcano Crater Private Tour Guide

  Before our Parocutin Volcano Private Tour, Alfredo sent us important information about what to bring, wear, shoes, weather forecast, hats, mosquitoes, water, snacks, etc. It was much informative and very helpful for us. He was on time picking us up at our hotel, was very professional, and full of knowledge about the area, its history and the place of the region in Mexican history and the present attempts to help and revive the unique culture of the Patzingo people. It was a long drive but Alfredo kept us entertained with what to expect to see around the volcano lava area. He and the driver of our truck assisted my 2 friends climb up the top of the volcano crater and took us to the village of San Juan Viejo that was inundated by the volcano's lava when it erupted in 1952. He took us to the Church's Bell Tower, climb as close it to as possible, which is the only remaining portion of the Church visible after the church and the entire village was buried under the sea of lava. He also arranged to have some souvenirs brought to the village, such as caps, lanyards that normally was not available. It was a long day (more than 13 hours) made short by the amiable personality of Alfredo and concern about our comfort and satisfaction. I wholeheartedly recommend Alfredo's Tour Guide. I rate it 10+stars!!!!!!!!!!

  A great day trip from Morelia to visit this natural wonder. Tour was well organised by Alfredo and Ruben. Ruben turned up on time, was super friendly and approachable, and made my day so much better. He even waited 7 hours for me to finish my trek with the local tour guide. Everything ran smoothly and as planned. I chose the 20km trek to the crater and church ruins. It was much harder than I anticipated as I did not do any research. If you chose this option make sure you wear good trekking shoes. However, the trek is amazing through the lava field and a lot more scenic than the horse and ATV’s. It is difficult to find tours to Paricutin as it is not a very popular but Alfredo and Ruben will definitely make it happen for you. Highly recommended. Thanks guys.

  Very nice tour. Both the tour organizer Alfredo and the driver Ruben were super helpful. I enjoyed every moment of the trip.

  Alfredo is a wonderful tour guide that customized the itinerary for our trip to hike the Paritutin. He also provided car service from and to Guadalajara for a separate service fee which made it so easy for us. Paricutin is not an easy hike given almost the entire trail is also lava rocks, but he did the whole hike with us and is super supportive. He also has a great network with the locals to make this trip super memorable (including bringing horses). We are very happy to check off our 7 natural wonders list with Alfredo!

  Thanks to Alfredo and his team a dream came true! We made our way to and from the crater via horses and then hiked to the edge of the crater for some spectacular views including the other craters in the region, the Paricutin lava field and the church.

  This excursion was amazing and Alejandro did a great job of giving us context of the history or the Paricutin Volcano phenomenon, which is one of the natural wonders of the world! Definitely recommend taking this trek deeper into Mexico, meeting some amazing people in remote areas that normally tourists don't see. Alejandro was a 5 star guide, giving us clear expectations on what we were going to see and experience, being patient with us we hiked to the top of the volcano, and taking us to the ruins of the church nearby as well. If you have never been or seen this wonder of the world, we definitely recommend booking this trip with Alejandro as you will not be disappointed in the experience and you could not pick a better guide than him!

  Alfredo was knowledgeable and easy going. We had a very nice time with him! Running down a cinder cone was thrilling. Horseback ride was fun on the way there but on the way back we walk because all our asses were hurting lol

  I booked Alfredo for a group of 6 friends to do a one day tour of Paricutin. Alfredo was very prompt in responding via WhatsApp and email, and makes payment easy. Not only is his English perfect; he went to university for history and archaeology and has encyclopedic knowledge of National and regional history and Indigenous cultures, and explains things in a delightful, captivating way, like a story teller. He is very organized and prompt, and makes sure everyone is safe. For example, explaining how to climb up and down the volcano, and matching the horses to people by personality. He picked us up in Uruapan in a van with driver, took us to a great breakfast (we didn’t have any at the hotel and he was adamant we would need a big breakfast for the trip. He was right!), and then told us the story of the region and the volcano on the drive. It’s a very long day, so he kept things moving without feeling rushed. We felt so lucky to have found him. He far exceeded our expectations, and you would be lucky to get a guide like him anywhere in the world. Worth every peso, do not hesitate to reach out to Alfredo!!

  Hands down the best tour guide I have ever had. Alfredo was professional, friendly and trustworthy. The trek to Paricutin volcano was intense but well worth it and Alfredo had everything organized and ready to go beforehand. He even drove me 5 hours from the volcano to Mexico City without any breaks so I was able to make my flight home. If you are going to Morelia, definitely book your tour with Alfredo.
