A guided tour on Penang street foods, history and culture. Foods and drinks are included (except alcoholic drinks and durian) :
1. 3 hours walk, eat street foods in local cafes and learn history and cultures as we walk on the street. Skip lunch for better tour experience.
2. Taste 10-13 traditional Penang street foods and drinks.
3. Learn the ingredients and preparation of Penang dishes like Lor Bak, Wantan Mee, Assam Laksa, Char Koay Teow, Hokkien Mee, Curry Mee; drinks like nutmeg juice, ambra, barley, white coffee and desserts like Chendol, ABC or rojak.
4. Visit a Chinese temple to gain insight to Taoism and have your fortune told.
5. Savor local tropical fruits like water apple or mango, if available.
6. Savor local snacks like Malay cakes or Indian apom (crepe).
7. See heritage building architectures, fengshui and street art murals.
Note: Inform guide if any food allergy or religious concern.

Tour starts from this point (bus stop in front of 7-eleven Penang Road) where participants will come on their own - walking, by taxi or by Grab. Briefing will be done first at this location before tour starts.

5.00I would strongly recommend this to for anyone looking to expand their knowledge of the amazing foods available here in Penang. This is awesome way of getting out of your comfort zone and enjoying the fabulous food available here . Our guide Poh was thoroughly entertaining, a wonderful hostess in Georgetown, but not only shared with us some of the best food but also very interesting stories. The cultureat Leif here in Penang island. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this food community as I and my tour mates did. I assure you a good time was had by all

5.00For many reasons this tour exceeded my expectations :) Would it be helpful to say that the numerous dishes are spaced out with a walk between each venue and one or two were air conditioned premises so very welcome on one of the hottest afternoons! it felt leisurely and calm, we were a small group and Max was very generous with his time, providing forks and napkins etc and choosing most carefully the ingredients so we didn't receive anything that us westerners might not relish! apart from experiencing so many different flavours, including delicious drinks to suit the hot climate, we covered a great deal of the Chinatown area and saw many fascinating heritage houses with Max explaining about the architecture, history etc Really fascinating trip and thoroughly recommend.

5.00We enjoy the afternoon. Ut was a good combination of food and learning. As it was our first food tour. We were a little nervous about what to expect. But we enjoy the walking and eating, as it broke up the day. It was a really hot afternoon, so Max enjoyed we stayed hydrated with local drinks , which we would never know to order! Which made it even more enjoyable. It was also good that we told him we don’t eat beef, so he was able to work around this and it wasn’t an issue

5.00James was an excellent guide. Informative, funny and knowledgeable. Do not eat anything beforehand as there is so much food to try. The guide can make these tours good or average. James is excellent and you will enjoy your time with him.

5.00We had a fantastic time on this food tour, James was a fantastic guide and we had the chance to try so much food at vendors we would not have been able to find by ourselves. James was very knowledgable about the food and the city and gave us lots of information and recommendations.

5.00Poh was amazing. She was very knowledgeable of Penang’s rich history and added insightful commentary between and at each food stop. We hadn’t expected this level of cultural and historical teaching, but we’re truly impressed! She brought us to a great variety of local cuisine options (we were stuffed by the end!) and felt like we got to sample all the flavors of Penang. Cannot recommend enough.

5.00Poh was a wonderful guide and hostess. Not only did we have a fabulous, well curated food tour but she was also extremely knowledgeable about the history and culture of Penang. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tasting the delights of this region and learnt so much about local customs and landmarks. We would highly recommend this tour.
A superb food and history visit with Mr. Law. The food was excellent with great variety and we learned history/culture.
