Kiyomizu temple is one of the World Heritage Lists in Kyoto. Then It is the must-see temple in Kyoto. Please look at the panoramic view around Kyoto. Because it is located on the Higashiyama hill. Also it has longer history than capital of Kyoto. It was originally built in 778.
Sanjusangendo Temple
Sanju-san-gen-do temple is one of our recommended temples in Kyoto. Because you can find fantastic statues in main hall. Those are called One thousand One " Senju Kannon" statues. Also please enjoy the spectacular views with the line-up of Buddhist statues.

We loved our guide Harry!!! He took the time to share the key highlights of each destination and recommended great spots for pictures! He was knowledgeable about the history! He was very patient, friendly and organized (we missed our bus and he texted us to meet at the next destination! I am not sure I would recommend coming to Japan in August - the heat was relentless but we still really enjoyed the tour!!! 😅

We loved the organisation of the tour and the sightseeings. However our guide couldn’t speak English at all. She tried to explain but it was impossible to understand. She couldn’t pronounce any words correctly and it looked like she had no idea how to explain in English. It’s crucial to be provided with correct information about the temples - how to pray, where and how to enter etc. She couldn’t understand any of our questions, let alone give a tour. Her name is Nagomi. Other thank her incompetence to speak English, she was very polite and positive.

I saw where some reviewers said that their tour was too fast paced, or too strenuous. I am older and out of shape and I did just fine. The younger people also seemed happy. They came back to the bus sweating and tired. The pace was perfect. Enough time to look around, use the bathroom, get water, whatever you want to do. I don’t like to hang around all day at every place. I can always go back if I want to. I appreciate having other people drive me around so that I don’t have to think about how to get places and what subway and train to take. I tend to get lost for a bit every time I have to make a transfer. By the time I get to my destination I’m worn out and overheated in this August weather. With this tour, I was able to relax comfortably in an air conditioned bus, and I made new friends from all over the world. People don’t talk to each other on subways in Japan. It’s rude. You’re not even supposed to make noise. I liked taking this tour because I was allowed to talk and compare notes with other travelers. Our tour guide Den was understandable and a lot of fun. She had drawn diagrams of the route at every temple/ shrine, etc. We also had a friendly assistant tour guide and a fun bus driver. They couldn’t have been nicer. It was interesting finding out some of the background information before we got to the temples. If I hadn’t gone on the tour, I wouldn’t have known what the water that you drink from the cup meant and I wouldn’t have known about tossing the coin, etc. I highly recommend this tour. It was really fun and it makes it possible to see a lot of things in just one day. Going directly to the place you want to go saves time. No endless stops. Also saved us from a big rainstorm- watched others wait for city bus as we jumped on ours. Also recommend the buffet lunch. It was great to be able to try all the different kinds of food. By the time we left the restaurant it seemed like the other tourists and I were old friends. Side note: Try the green Fanta. Wow.

It was a great way to see multiple things in one day. Our guide At chan told interesting stories, taught how to count in Japanese, was very cute and knowledgeable. Lunch buffet was a great opportunity to try local cuisine. Recommended!
