It is one of Bangalore's oldest settlements, filled with mazes of tiny streets, communities of professionals buzzing with energy, and the typical South Indian life. Walk along, unhurried.
The 'modern' side of modern Bangalore often overrides the glorious heritage of the old city. With the rice-pete, jeweller's-pete, small-pete, large-pete, the criss-cross of narrow lanes, the little shops of local produce, century-old temples tucked away behind posters of Kannada films, the old city breathes a different breath of today's Bangalore.
Take a long walk across the old city. Shop for rare books, cotton and silk clothing, taste some quintessential south Indian food, and peep into some inconspicuous yet century old temples with the Pete Walk.

I went with my family this December in Bangalore Old Town/Pete Market. Great tour, worth the price, highlight was lunch stop which was fantastic. Our guide was very knowledgable and willing to answer any questions on the fly.

Vidya is a great storyteller and made the very long history of India and Bengaluru come alive in the streets of Pete neighborhood. I took the tour on my first day in Bangalore and it really helped understand and navigate the city during the rest of my visit. Arranging the trip was also a breeze with very clear and swift communication. Highly recommend!

Vidya has a wealth of knowledge about Bangalore, which she lovingly and skillfully imparted to us during the tour – a highly recommended tour, where you learn so much interesting and helpful information. You can feel that she loves her work and the people. For example, she showed us a converted bus where we could sample Indian coffee. Later, she bought fragrant flower garlands for both of us. I think that was a very nice gesture—the scent stayed with me all day. Finally, I bought some delicious Indian sweets with her to take home. As planned—this tour was worth every cent. Thank you so much!

The Pete history tour with Vidya was great, she really knows a lot about the area and is happy to explain in detail things related to the history of Bangalore, Hindu religion, local customs etc. There is a good mix of topics covered so it's not all just about one thing, I really learned a lot and she is very good company. I have done other tours with other guides through this company in the past and they have all been really good.

I had a wonderful private walking tour in the old city with Poornina who is one of founders of Unhurried. Our tour included Bangalore Fort, a wonderful temple, the vibrant and chaotic old city and the fascinating market. One of the highlight was to experience a ceremony in the temple including getting the red dot on my face and even rice served on leaf to eat. Poornina is a very knowledgable and attentive guide and also a very friendly person to chat with. I really enjoyed the time with her!

It was a great pleasure taking this tour in a small district but nevertheless endless things to learn about. For us this was a 3hrs deep dive in Bangalores history and culture. Would definitely recommend this tour. Thank you so much!

We have been on Unhurried walks with Poornima twice, many years ago on "cubbon cantonment tales Walk" and last week on "Pete Walk". Highly recommend Unhurried walks. Poornima captures the charm of Bangalore so beautifully in these informative and interesting walks, making every walk unique and memorable for all ages. She goes an extra mile in making a personal connection with each of us, while keeping the walk lively with active conversation, she listens to our interests and shares a lot of additional anecdotes. Poornima is very knowledgeable, doesn't rush, it is truly an unhurried walk :) She goes in-depth to share every aspect, the city then and now - it's history, culture, local practices, shows rare and unseen photos, truly amazing to see how she remembers so many historic events, dates and names! One may be a tourist or a proud resident of Bangalore familiar with these places, but walking with Poornima gives a new dimension with her fascinating stories revealing all the local hidden gems. Our walk concluded with a delicious breakfast at an iconic eatery. Poornima was still energetic after 3 hours, continuing to share more stories and about the eatery also, loved listening to her and a special thanks for these prompt recommendations - benne dosa, dumroot and Badam Halwa. What better way than this to explore Bangalore and Karnataka! Already planning our next unhurried walk with her.

I am experienced traveler and consider myself "adventurous," but the combination of logistical challenges and language issues can make South Indian cities overwhelming. As much as I love exploring, doing the pete area on my own would have been intimidating. Poornima made it just fun and I saw things that I would never have seen on my own. She was also very adept at quickly leveraging my own particular interests--I mentioned Jainism and then, when we came across a Jain festival, she took me in the neighborhood Jain temple. You can't do better than this.
