I will meet you at your hotel and we will drive to the back entrance to Petra for the start of your 4-6 hour Private Tour. From the drop off point walk 1km to the entrance of the site where you will climb the back way up to the Monastery - with great views over the mountains. Then climb down (900 steps) from the Monastery to the basin where we will walk through the Street of Facades, passed the Royal Tombs to the Roman Theatre. Then to the Treasury before walking through the Siq (1.2kms) and on to the normal entrance to the city and the end of the tour. (Once at the Treasury if you want to explore further then you can do this on your own) This is a 4-6 hour tour and can begin anytime before 10.30am. The entrance fee to the city of Petra is not included in this tour. The transport from your hotel to the back entrance starting point is not included.
The Petra Theatre is a 1st century AD Nabatean Theatre, 600m from the centre of Petra, carved out of solid rock.

5.00We had an incredible experience touring Petra with Sami. With over 30 years of experience, his knowledge of Petra and its history is exceptional. Every question we asked was answered with real depth and insight, which made the entire visit far more meaningful. We started in Little Petra and finished at the Treasury, and along the way Sami knew all the best routes, viewpoints, and places for photos. He also has a real hidden talent for photography, so it genuinely felt like having a photo shoot alongside the tour. I honestly cannot see why anyone would visit Petra without a guide after this experience. Booking a tour with Sami was one of the best decisions we made on the trip.

5.00Our group had a LOVELY LOVELY time with Sami in Petra! Sami was so friendly, kind and patient with us even though we were a bit late and stopped a lot for pictures. He even helped us take some amazing photos and videos at some great viewpoints. Sami was also very insightful and gave us a ton of information about the history and geology of Petra. We very much enjoyed his humor as well! Everyone in Petra also seemed to love Sami too - he's a bit of a celebrity here! After the tour he kept in touch with us and was helpful with some dining recommendations in Wadi Musa. We loved Sami so much that the next day when we came back, we were so HAPPY HAPPY to run into him that we had to take another selfie with him! I would highly recommend Sami's tour to anyone visiting Petra! Thanks so much Sami - it was such a pleasure meeting you! Stay in touch :)

5.00Amazing place. Our Guide Sami made the whole experience 200% better. Balanced mix of explanation and walking. He knows everyone there and all little beautiful corners. He is more of an “ambassador” to Petra rather than a guide. Helped everyone!

5.00We couldn’t asked for a better guide. Sami delivered unforgettable experience. He was very knowledgeable, attentive to our needs & questions, and very kind and polite to us and all other people walking the same pass. Sami pointed the best spots to take pics and took many photos of us as well, which we really appreciated. We extended our tour to view the Treasury from above, and Sami walked tirelessly with us the whole day, still remembering to point interesting details and explaining the history. A short climb off the main pass to the top was a special mini adventure. We are very happy with our guide. Thank you, Sami!

5.00Sami was our guide for a private back door Petra tour and I cannot tell you how glad we were to have him. We had honestly debated whether it was worth having a guide, and the amount Sami was able to show and teach us really elevated our experience of Petra. Sami has been giving tours for a few decades and knew absolutely everyone on the route, from the men working on creating the new inroads, to the rest stop owners and even the archeologists that were on sight digging. Everyone told us how lucky we were to have Sami and we could not agree more. He showed us vantage points we never would have found ourselves and also talked us through the history of the area - not only of Petra but the surrounding areas geography. Sami was also very understanding of our pace, when we wanted to rest, or when we passed on climbing higher at points because the sun and heat was so intense. We cannot recommended Sami enough and hope you will decide to use him for an amazing tour of Petra.
