What To Expect

Phillip Island Nature Parks - Koala Conservation Reserve

It is only a 1hr 45min drive from Melbourne directly to Phillip Island. On arrival you will be greeted by Phillip Island Nature Parks Ranger for a guided walk through Phillip Island’s Koala Reserve. You will be given a presentation about Koalas, history and relevance of the Reserve and the last area of natural woodland on the island. Guide to accompany the group and assist Ranger with the group.

From the Koala Wildlife Park, it is a short drive to Phillip Island, a 10,000-hectare home to more than a hundred varieties of animal species. Phillip Island boasts a population of approximately 15,000 which is boosted during the busy tourist seasons. There are three main settlements being Cape Woolamai, New Haven & Cowes.

We had a good day with autopia tours. Vickie our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her job and showing us around . She was able to get us up close to the sites, koalas and wallabies She got there early to see the Penguins, which was a really good experience.

Wonderful experience. I wasn't excited about the penguins until I saw the penguins. Now I'm glad I did it. The koalas were their cute, lazy selves. Lots of Insta-ready spots. Even though I was solo traveling, people were happy to take my photo. If you do the Immigration Museum as the pickup spot, it is on the side of the building.

The tour operator Autopia changed pick up location without telling me. Many other tourists also did not receive the new location. Only One of the stranger tourists received a new location email. The bus was late, adding more anxiety to the situation. The driver never said anything about it… the sites we visited were nice. Otherwise you would have to drive on your own for two hours one way…
