Phillip Island Nature Parks - Koala Conservation Reserve
It is only a 1hr 45min drive from Melbourne directly to Phillip Island. On arrival you will be greeted by Phillip Island Nature Parks Ranger for a guided walk through Phillip Island’s Koala Reserve. You will be given a presentation about Koalas, history and relevance of the Reserve and the last area of natural woodland on the island. Guide to accompany the group and assist Ranger with the group.
Phillip Island
From the Koala Wildlife Park, it is a short drive to Phillip Island, a 10,000-hectare home to more than a hundred varieties of animal species. Phillip Island boasts a population of approximately 15,000 which is boosted during the busy tourist seasons. There are three main settlements being Cape Woolamai, New Haven & Cowes.

5.00A fantastic trip to Phillip Island! Our guide was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and the local area. The itinerary was very well organised. It was great to see the koala bears being looked after in the sanctuary and we even spotted a kookaburra! The penguin parade was amazing and it was wonderful to watch the penguins waddling out of the sea and into their burrows. A wonderful day trip from Melbourne!

5.00Great day out. Tour guide/ driver was excellent telling us lots, giving tips and pointing out animals. It’s a late return so much better to be driven! Koala sanctuary was lovely , dinner was scheduled with tips on where to eat and the penguin experience was great. We upgraded to premium which gave a great view of the penguins as they came on

5.00Our driver and tour guide Fiona was very knowledgeable and kept us on time and was informative throughout our journey. The highlight was obviously seeing the penguins which were amazing.

3.00Would have rented a car and bought our own penguin tickets for less then half of what this tour costs and would not have had to put up with careless tour driver

4.00Had a lovely time with Ilkay as my guide. He was clear and engaging. Our transport was comfortable too. The time and sessions at the koala conservation and in Philip Island went well. Note: The time of stopover at the Philip Island beach area might be a little rushed depending on the day’s schedule and activities to buy dinner. I’d recommend to prep food beforehand though buying there is possible too. But being a tourist, if you’d like to explore around a bit, it might feel a little stressful making it in time with dinner and heading around to the shops.
