This workshop is addressed to adults to learn and expend their knowledge of Polish history and culture. The course is also a perfect opportunity to gain more understanding of your Polish heritage or prepare you for a visit in Poland.
I will take you on a tour what my country looks like today. Starting with a short language lesson, I will then cover Polish geography, climate and interesting facts. We will spend some time talking about Polish history, World War II, Solidarity movement and changes that took place in Poland in 1989 and helped the country transition to democracy. Moving on, we will learn about Polish wedding traditions, by watching a video of my brother’s wedding. There are 16 Holidays in Poland, and I will talk about one of the favorites, the All Saints Day.
At the end, we will try the famous homemade pierogi and share the recipe how to make them.

As a native of Poland, I will take you on a tour of what my country looks like today and share stories about the history, events, and people that have shaped it over the past 100 years. We will begin with a short language lesson, during which I will teach you a few basic Polish greetings and show you how to introduce yourself in my native tongue. Next, I will cover Poland’s geography, climate, and some interesting facts about the country. I will then spend some time discussing Polish history, including World War II, the Solidarity movement, and the major changes that took place in 1989, which helped Poland flourish and transition to a democratic system. Moving on, we will explore Polish traditions, and I will show you a video from my brother’s wedding in Kielce, Poland. There are 16 national holidays in Poland, and I will talk about my favorite one—All Saints’ Day. At the end, I will invite you to try my mom’s famous pierogi and share her recipe with you.

5.00Wonderful experience with an amazing hostess. It started with a basic language lesson followed by a perfect balance of history, geography and polish culture, with personal anecdotes to provide context and humor. Night ended with some of the best pierogi you will find anywhere. Reinforced reasons to plan my Poland trip ASAP.

5.00My daughter bought the Polish Cultural Workshop for me as a 2024 Christmas present. We attended the workshop on April 4th and were amazed at how interesting and informative it was. But most importantly, it was just plain fun for both of us. Both of my grandparents on my mother’s side emigrated to the U.S. from Poland and found a new home in Milwaukee. In the workshop, I learned about the ever-changing borders of Poland over the centuries which gave me the answer to the conflicting census information which listed my grandmother’s place of birth one year in Russia and another year in Poland. The workshop educated my daughter and I on the devastation of Warsaw by the Germans in World War II, Lech Walesa, the shipyard worker who was elected President of Poland, and the first Polish Pope, St. Pope John Paul II. I was surprised how much I liked my first Pierogi and even had seconds! I very highly recommend the workshop to anyone with Polish heritage, and to anyone else who might be interested in this beautiful country. I went home to my wife telling her we needed to visit Poland very soon. My daughter and I left feeling closer than ever as a father and daughter as a result of her hearing me talk about my mother and my grandmother. The evening is something I will never forget.

5.00Gosia was so very welcoming and extremely knowledgable. It was a gift to be able to see her answer some of my father's questions about his Polish grandparents, watch them connect over the different types of food he had growing up, and learn so much about Poland's history together. And the Pierogi we absolutely delicious! I cannot say enough about this wonderful this workshop and dinner - Gosia is a treasure!

My sister and I had a lot of fun; Gosia was an excellent host and the workshop provided a great mix of Polish history, personal stories, Polish culture, and we even learned a few words! I learned a lot from the workshop about Poland and it's rich history and culture. Last but not least, the Pierogi dinner was great--I would highly recommend this!
