We were born, raised and always lived in Porto, so we know the city as a local and, since it is a private tour, we will customize it according to your interests.

In this private food/wine tour we will focus on Portuguese gastronomy, but you will learn a lot about our culture, history and traditions, which makes us unique.

You will visit the Bolhão market and several food spots and tascas (traditional stores), while getting in contact with the locals. Meanwhile, discover the stories behind our main dishes: the legend of the "tripeiros", name given to the Porto inhabitants; you will learn how "francesinha" is made, that "caloric bomb" that you should not miss and the tasty codfish recipes, so important in our culture.

We will harmonise it with our portuguese wines and explain the diverse grapes and wine regions. And what about our cakes, such as pastel de nata or Jesuita?

The gastronomy from the northern part of Portugal is among the most varied in the country, and includes fish and seafood from the coast along with tasty meats from the countryside. Your local guide will tell you the stories that are behind these traditional dishes, such as "Tripas à Moda do Porto", the "Francesinha" and "our faithful friend", the cod and offer up some of their recipes. Desserts, especially those whose recipes were forged in the convents, play a role in the history of Portugal's food scene. Your guide will take you to the grocery stores and point you to the very best goods used in Portuguese cuisine. This guided tour includes 10 tastings and wines including olives, bread, canned fish, smoked sausages, cheeses, the famous Francesinha, olive oil and other traditional snacks as well as vinho verde, DOC Douro wines and port wine. Visit the temporary Bolhão market and the traditional shops with surprising snacks while you get to know the spots of the city. Enjoy a new experience to your senses.

We had a wonderful afternoon exploring many delicious venues. A flavorful shredded pork sandwich- a favorite of the locals, was first on the list. This was followed by a stroll through an historic market sampling wines, sardines, fresh oysters and stuffed dates and figs. The next treat we enjoyed was a sample of Ginjinha, a delicious cherry liquor available at a family owned shop. After a short walk we attended a luscious olive oil tasting complete with Portuguese cheese and charcuterie. A stop at a unique shop featuring jams, honey and chocolate spreads flavored with fruit was amazing. The perfect finish was a visit to a pastry shop for an espresso and the quintessential Portuguese pastry, Pasteis de Nata. Highly recommend.

What an amazing afternoon. We learned so much about Porto and it's food and drink. It felt more like an afternoon out with a friend than a tour. Would thoroughly recommend.

Our guide, Sara, was delightful...taking us to a variety of places/venues to sample the flavors of Porto. Her knowledge of the local culture and customs made our visit even more enjoyable. We have taken food tours in many European cities, and this was among the best!

We thoroughly enjoyed our food tour in Porto with João. He provided insight into the culture and development of the area, along with a wonderful sampling of a variety of food and drinks. He was friendly and knowledgable, and accommodated us with several stops along the tour for us to explore shops and sights we were interested in. I highly recommend Oporto & Douro Moments.

We had the greatest time touring with Oporto & Douro Moments! My husband and I had traveled to Porto once before but wanted to try something different this time. We booked a walking food and wine tour on a Sunday morning and it was the perfect way to see the city (definitely wear comfy shoes!) and get to learn a little more about the history and the special dishes of Porto! Highly recommend!
