The trip to Porvoo takes approximately 40 minutes, on the way we will tell you about the history of Finland and also the cultural aspects of the Finnish nation. Porvoo is the second oldest city in Finland. The town is famed for its "Old Town", a dense medieval street pattern with wooden houses. It is the town of Johan Ludvig Runeberg and Albert Edelfelt. We also will visit the market square, King's hotel, Merchant houses, and Toy store.

Flexible tour of a lovely typical Finnish town

5.00Terrific tour for our three-generation trip to Finland! Darius picked us up promptly and his van was roomy (seats 6 passengers comfortably plus room in the trunk for bags). He has a microphone and speaker to make it easy for people in the back to hear him clearly – nice touch, especially for those hard of hearing! The 40-minute trip to Porvoo included his rich history of Finland which provides context for the current Finnish culture, food, religion, and more. This was our third tour, and we learned a lot that was not covered in other tours! Porvoo itself is lovely – a beautiful and typical Finnish town with a rich history. Darius moved comfortably at our pace – 3 generations means we can be very slow on uphills (and there are a few hills here!) – and stops included a coffeehouse with the top-rated Porvoo cake (we also stopped at a second shop for gluten-free goodies), the beautiful and typical church, the standard views of Porvoo, a chocolate/candy shop and more. Highly recommend this tour! Wear good walking shoes (all cobblestones!) and layers for the Finnish weather!

5.00Darius is very friendly and knowledgeable. He told us lots about Finnish history and culture - most of which cannot be found online / from books, but only through a local person who knows the region very well and has close ties with the local community. 5.00I arrived earlier than my other organized tour, so that I can spend more time in Helsinki and around. I reserved this half-day tour on Viator way in advance. Darius picked me up at hotel on time and I was lucky, I was the only client! Loved the tour of little Porvoo, it is great to go with guide rather than alone, otherwise you won’t know some of the interesting details and stories.
