On this day we take you to the biggest and worldwide known Slovenian cave system - the Postojna caves. Amazing two million years old and 21 km long system of underground caves is one of the most easily accessible networks of underground caves in the world. First, you will experience the ride by electric train, after that, a guided walk will follow through a series of cave halls with drop stones, pillars, and translucent curtains that create unforgettable impressions. The underworld system is home to the mysterious, unique, and rare amphibian Proteus Anguinus, or "baby dragon" as it is popularly called here.

Back in the daylight, the trip will continue towards the astonishing castle of the robber knight Erasmus. For centuries dramatically hanging in over a 100-meter-high vertical cliff, it's waiting for you to enter and discover its secrets, legends, and myths.

Driving through the green scenery, we return to Ljubljana.

There is a constant temperature of 10°C (50°F) in the caves, dress properly, and wear comfortable shoes (flipflops are not recommended).

The minimum number of participants must apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative date/tour or full refund.

In case you fail to provide us with a desired meeting point up until 24h before departure, your meeting point will be the City hotel (Dalmatinova 15, 1000 Ljubljana)

This is a must trip for every visitor to Slovenia. I am so lucky that it is the second visit I have had (first in 2012) and it is still exciting and a great wonder. I loved the Christmas tree in the great hall! Our guide was great and provided a history of the area, caves and castle.

We had a great time on this small tour group. The valley was beautiful, the Tibor is one of the best tour guides out there - he is funny, engaging, knowledgeable, and shared so much of Lju's history with us. Kranjska gora valley was a bit less interesting, can consider switching this part out for something else

On our family short (adult) family break to Ljubljana, we booked this trip to Postojna Cave and castle. Our driver (so sorry I think it was Tor?) picked us up promptly at 08.00. There were 8 of us on the trip, and with encouragement we quickly introduced ourselves and settled down for our hour trip to the caves. Our guide provided a fascinating overview of Slovenia’s history during the drive. The caves are an incredible experience - an absolute “must do”. As a word of caution though, there’s a lot of walking with steep slopes - no good for those unfit or with mobility problems. We were in a larger group but the guide was great and we all felt that this activity was an absolute highlight. Moving on to the castle: again well worth a visit. Built into the cliff, you have an audio guide to take you from room to room. It’s a great place to visit. There are a lot of steps here too. I thoroughly recommend this trip from Ljubljana.

I went in November and it was chilly and rainy. Dress warmly and consider boots (depending on the weather) since there is water in the floor on both the cave and the castle.
