Akagera National Park is home to the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino—making it one of the best places in Rwanda for a classic safari. Along the way, you'll also encounter giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and countless antelope species, including the majestic eland and impala. Your adventure begins with a 2.5-hour drive to the park, where you'll embark on an exciting game drive through Akagera’s diverse landscapes, from vast savannahs to rolling hills and lush wetlands. The journey from the park’s south to north takes approximately 8 hours, offering incredible wildlife viewing opportunities along the way. With an experienced guide leading the way, you’ll get up close to nature and experience one of Africa’s most scenic and wildlife-rich parks.
