How can one not be organized

2.00A disorganized organization ... This airport is not designed to accommodate large planes, let alone several at the same time. Upon arrival, several large planes landed one after the other. Result? The immigration area was crowded, and the staff did not know where to place people. They must want to help us move forward in the line. Automated machines to facilitate the customs process are being used to replace indifferent workers. Who struggles to look at us, and when we manage to catch their attention, they are unhappy, really no smiles from the many who work on the island. Departure! Three buses empty the hotel, dropping us off on the sidewalk, while the luggage is loaded onto a separate truck, which arrives at the airport before us. The lady from Sunwing makes us wait on the sidewalk after we have retrieved our luggage, and leaves us waiting. She will let us in later in small groups, once again lacking space for the group that we are. The same lack of organization, the same staff jaded by life. 3 counters open, 2 ways to proceed, but everything is mixed up. A delay on the plane that we will take. Once on board the plane, we are informed that there are still some bags to be loaded!!! In short, we missed our "window" for takeoff, so we will have to wait at the edge of the runway. St. Maarten is a beautiful island... But completely disorganized. Fortunately, it is not at the airport that we spend our vacation 😉

4.00Now fully restored this Caribbean gateway looks great. Always operational during the restoration now everything has fallen into place and all areas work as they should. Duty free and restaurants offer a good variety of options. Some good local rum choices are here too. Immigration slightly overloaded when we landed could be improved.
