Cong

The first part of our adventure we travel to the lovely little village of Cong situated in County Mayo, where the movie “The Quiet Man” which was filmed in 1951 but released in 1952 was filmed. Jump into the shoes of John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara as you explore this tiny village. Also conveniently located a short walk is the enchanting Ashford Castle, where many famous people celebrate their marriage there and it’s the home to the oldest school of falconry in Ireland. Your trusty tour guide will advise to have lunch here, and also recommend where to go.

Killary Sheep Farm

Back in our luxury vehicle our 1st day of tour takes us to just outside Leenane. If at all possible, on a trip to Ireland or Scotland one of the must do things is attend a sheep dog trial. On arrival you will be greeted and brought in to watch the combined skills of trainers and sheepdogs and what many years of training has accomplished. You will be amazed at this show in such an amazing setting.

Killary Fjord

As if this was not enough, you will be now whisked down a scenic 10 minute drive to Killary harbour where you will be left in the ever so responsible hands of the family run company to take you on a boat tour of Irelands only fjord. Take in the panoramic views, spot the mussel and salmon farms maybe if you are lucky will even come across a dolphin or two! If you think the fjord looks hugely impressive on land, wait until you are on the water as it gives you a totally different perspective.

After a dream come true of sleeping in a castle it is time to meet your driver guide and set on the road as we start our morning heading for the beautiful town of Clifden. We shall have a panoramic drive around the small market town seeing the ruins of 18th Century Clifden Castle as we make our way to our first stop of the day, Kylemore Abbey

Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Garden

The story of this abbey is a notable one. You will be immersed in its history, charm and romance. It was originally built as a castle in 1868 but was taken over by the Benedictine Nuns in 1920. Learn of all its tales of love, heartbreak and innovation. You won’t want to leave your camera behind for this one as from the abbey itself to the 1000 acre Victorian garden are all worth a shot.

Roundstone

only two miles down the road lies Connemara’s most picturesque village. Roundstone is an active fishing village where you will find local fishermen taking in their daily catch featuring a mix of, Mackerel, Cod, Lobster, Crab, Shrimp. The local bars and restaurants are proud to serve the daily their catch to locals and tourists alike. Supposing you are not a seafood fan don’t worry there is something on the menu for everybody. If the weather is in our favour, why not dine outside taking in those views of the Atlantic at the foot of the Errisbeg mountain.

Galway

After a fulfilling lunch it is time to make our way to the capital of the west of Ireland. If you are able to stay awake your guide will fill you in on your way of how to capitalize on your overnight stay in Galway City. We will try to aim to be in Galway with enough time to do some exploring its beautiful river Corrib maybe St. Nicholas’ Cathedral on take a gander around Eyre’s Square the center of Galway. Galway is renowned for its culture as well as its night life, be sure to enjoy a few whilst conversing with friendly locals, in a fine establishment in nestled in one of Galway’s side streets.

Kinvara Harbour

With bags packed and a true Irish Breakfast had your reliable driver guide awaits you outside your hotel. As we journey south towards Kilcolgan you tell your guide of experiences of the night before. Before you know it we arrive into Kinvara which means ‘head of the bay’ in English from Gaelic. This quaint seaport village of Kinvara in County Galway is famous for many festivals and Dunguaire castle that you wont miss as she guards the entrance to the village. We can roam around the village for photos or grab acheeky ‘Irish Coffee’ in Keogh’s of what they are famed for.

The Burren

Back in your luxury vehicle you will now cruise on the Wild Atlantic Way into The Burren National Park (Irish: An Boireann, meaning “the stony place”) or sometimes known as the land of the fertile rock. As your knowledgeable guide will explain it was formed millions of years ago when the area was under sea and has been dominated by glaciation to produce this “lunar terrain” where to be sure we’ll stop so you can see it first-hand. Feel the captivating beauty of The Burren with its limestone pavements and intriguing rock formations. The Atlantic views are breathtaking, as your eyes stretch into the distance to see the three inhabited Aran islands famous for their wild scenery, distinctive knitted jumpers and charming cottages.

Cliffs of Moher

We now reach the pinnacle of our adventure! Extending 12 kilometres along the coastline of County Clare, people have been visiting this sight in their numbers all because of one man, Sir Cornelius O’Brien. In 1835 he built an observation platform for tourists known as the O’Brien’s tower believing tourism would lift the area out of poverty. Today it attracts over 1.5 million visitors who, from the highest point of 214 metres (702 ft), will be able to take in incredible views of the twelve Bens, the Aran Islands and the Atlantic Ocean after which it’s plain sailing all the way to the East coast of North America where many claim their Irish ancestry. The thousands of seabirds that soar above their homes in the nooks and crannies of the rock face is just an amazing sight to be seen.

Bunratty

After only a short drive your driver/guide will take you to the final stop of your voyage. In the middle of the village of Bunratty there lies a wonderous 15th Castle. As we stop there will be the opportunity to take photos of Bunratty Castle. Here we also have the opportunity for a drink or snack or perhaps others would enjoy shopping at the local ‘Woollen Mills’ which are renowned for their hand knitted Aran sweaters we’ve all heard off

Dublin

We now journey across the island back to the Capital City, where in your mind are an array of memories which will last a lifetime. Who knew so much could be done in such little time…
