Lukang Historic Center
After breakfast you will depart for Lukang, a historic old town that is famed for the well-preserved cultural and historical heritages. Lukang, literally means “Deer Harbor” was once a bustling port during the 17-18th century, the import/export business also made the most rich and powerful people in Taiwan. Stroll through the town with red brick walls and floors: the Nine Turns Alley, the Urn Wall, the Half-Sided Well, Longshan Temple and many more, you will find each of them has a story to tell. Lukang is also well-known for its street foods and traditional Taiwanese desserts, where you can fulfill your appetite and stock up on some gifts to bring a little taste of this charming old town back home and share with your friends and family! After lunch, you will take the train/ bus back to Kaohsiung and arrive in the hotel later this afternoon.
Lugang Longshan Temple
Longshan Temple in Lukang was originally a small temple in Lukang. Later it was remodeled by local residents to be the current larger scale. The temple was beautifully designed. It is seated facing the west with the back to the east. The layout is square. The main building consists of four strata and three gardens. The format and design are inspired by Longshan Temple in Quanzhou (Chuanchow) of Taiwan.
Lugang Old Street
Lukang Old Street includes Yaolin Street and Putou Street. The historic site is perhaps the only place in Taiwan which best preserves the architecture stemming from as early as the Qing Dynasty. Previously a prosperous business center in the Qing Dynasty, the town’s streets feature buildings with a shop front and a back door facing the river for loading goods. Today, these traditional architectural pieces with brick walls, tiled roof as well as wooden door and windows are listed as a historic site. In addition to the main street, the winding brick streets and the narrow Osmanthus Lane are another area which had been filled with shops and households since early times. Now the area is occupied by folk art shops, nostalgic stores, teahouses, bookstores and painting stores, restaurants, local food vendors, and pastry stores, which are always packed with tourists on holidays. Walking on the streets, you will feel like being a part of a Qing drama.
Tianhou Temple
Lukang Tianhou Temple is the one of the three major historic sites in Lukang. It lies on Zhongshan Road, Lukang. In the Ching Dynasty, General Shi Lang built the first temple of Goddess of Sea in Taiwan. The statue in the alter was imported from Meizhou, China. There are over 1 million worshipers coming here every year. With the smoke of the incense, the statues face has turned black, so the Goddess is also called black-faced Goddess.

Allan is the best guide we've ever had. We were a group of four Spaniards on a 5-day trip in Taiwan. The experience was amazing for the country but especially thanks to Allan and the driver

This was perhaps one of the best tours I have taken. The tour was beyond my expectations from the places I saw to the food to the hotels. My guide and driver were great and went above and beyond to make the trip memorable. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for tours in Taiwan.

My cousin and I took our 88 year old mothers (twin sisters) on this private 4 day tour and we all loved the tour and the sights. I specifically asked for tour guide Coco, whom we previously had for my 3 days tour in 2023. Coco and our driver were very attentive to our mom's needs and provided excellent service. Coco knew we loved to try local foods and researched for suggestions based on our preferences. We asked the tour to end via the High Speed Rail back to Taipei instead of by car and Harry, our contact at Edison, was very gracious and accommodating. I also used Edison for the rides to and from Taoyuan to our hotel. I would highly recommend Edison and will use them again for our tour to Easter Taiwan next time as well.

Really terrific way to enjoy the eastern coast + center. From top to bottom of the country, the landscape, people, and cuisine are unmatched. Itinerary is a solid balance of nature, native culture, history, food, temples. Many tour highlights—at the top of the list is our guide Joseph Yi. Could not be more knowledgable, kind, responsive. Hotel quality exceeded expectations. If time allows, combine with the west coast tour.

A rainy tour from pineapple factory making our own pineapple cake to rainbow village to the beautiful flower market, it's all fun despite the rain and wind. Thanks to Mr. John Chan, our tour guide, who explained things about the tour and taiwan history that made the tour smooth and lively.

It wasn't much of a guided tour with a fun guide or fun facts, it's more of a personal driver type of trip where it's quiet during the drive. When we got to the destination, most of the time was for exploring on your own, which was fine for me but not very exciting otherwise. The first van and hotel to sun moon lake was very nice but the metro and van in Kaohshiung was not very nice. I traveled solo so the personal van escort and hotel was kinda worth it for me but otherwise I don't think it was worth the money, almost seven hundred for four days. Also the Kaohshiung guide had very bad time management. We were suppose to go to three destinations on the last day and spent forever at the first two places never mentioning we were short on time and towards the end I didn't get to have lunch and literally spent two minutes at the last place and barely made it to the hsr station. The call center was very supportive otherwise I would've given them less ratings.

Wonderfully surprised I was very satisfied with our tour of Taipei and the scenic places that gave inspiration. Our tour guide, Mr John Chan, was such a professional and a gentleman, always making sure our group had what we need beforehand and I'll try to remember the stories he shared while on the road on our bus. Planning a next visit already! Taiwan is as beautiful as its warm-hearted folks.

Tour departs every Wednesday. Although it was a 4 day tour, the other 3 people were only doing two days. We visited a number of places including a wine centre, temples and pagodas. In the van the guide (I don't know his name) gave us information about each place but once we were out of the van, he seemed to only talk to those who were near him. Thus I felt that I missed out on some information. Also when we visited a pagoda, I was very slow walking uphill (sore foot) and when I reached the pagoda, he did not take any notice nor tell me where the others were. I looked around for a while and eventually went over to him and asked. By then it was too late for me to join them. Sun Moon Lake is definitely worth seeing, especially when the sun is shining. You can borrow bikes from the hotel and ride around the lake on boardwalks. On the Thursday afternoon I was put on a train to Kaohsiung and met on the platform by my new guide who took me to my hotel. On the Friday we went to Kenting National Park which was quite interesting. Unfortunately we were unable to go to the lighthouse as the path was closed. My only complaint about this day was that I felt a bit rushed, that is, go to the sight, take photos and leave. I guess my expectations were a little different. This guide, Mr Wong, was very informative and his English was good. Unfortunately I did not see the sights of Kaohsiung on the Saturday as I was put on a high speed train back to Taipei before a typhoon hit. All I saw was when I had wandered about by myself early one morning. Overall I would recommend this tour.
