Caught bucket list fish - had great time

5.008a start w Captain Jason of 4th story charters leaving out of Goodland, FL - right near Marco Island. He took us out last year and we couldn’t wait to get out with him again. We exchanged texts over the previous few days figuring out if we were going to stay back in the thousand islands for snapper and snook or go out near shore for goliath grouper. After checking with other captains Captain Jason recommended we go 13 miles south to a wreck to fish for permit. Great call - we barely got the first rod in the water before a permit was on the line. These fish are fun and nephew Joey wrestled him in after a 20 minute fight. Ten minutes later Joey hooked another one and turned to his cousin Robbie to muscle it in - both were 20-25 pounds and about 32 inches. Captain Jason had us mix in some bottom fishing with two rods while the other two targeted more permit. The bottom fishers caught some sheepshead snappers and jacks. The older guys on the boat lined up a couple more permit but lost them before we could get them close. Captain Jason moved us to another hotspot a few minutes away for more action and Robbie landed another big permit to close out the morning. We were back at the dock by noon where Captain Jason cleaned our fish and sent us off to the Snook Inn over in Marco with our fresh catch. The Snook Inn took our catch and we had half of it blackened and the other half fried. Fantastic lunch. Fantastic day on the water. Highly recommend.

5.00Kevin was awesome. Five stars, and I don’t give five stars out easily. His demeanor was perfect for our group. Easy, relatable and flexible in agenda. He was extremely knowledgeable of the environment, the ecosystem, the fishing, and great to work with. He gauged our group to see what type of fishing made sense and adjusted as we progressed. Really great time and will absolutely book again.

5.00Amazing experience! Captain Joe was the best! We chose Shell Island as our first stop and I’ve never seen so many amazing shells!! Then we went fishing, and ended our tour with dolphins -both great experiences and we would absolutely go again!! Until next time Captain Joe!!

5.00Great overall experience. Our guide Jason was great and we got to see dolphins swimming right behind our boat, go shelling on an island and went fishing where we caught several fish. Family had a great time and would do it again!

5.00Jason is a terrific captain- very knowledgeable about fishing in the waters around Marco. Our first outing included dolphins, shelling and fishing. We had such a great time, we decided to go back to Jason for a 4 hour fishing only trip, Jason is super patient and very service oriented, making sure we always had bait, helping us get fish off our lines and fileting the catch! His boat is clean and he is a very safe driver. A highlight of our second outing was when Jason used a smaller fish we had caught as bait to attract a Goliath grouper. The fishing pole and line were massive and the battle to reel in the fish was very exciting.

Hands Down the Best Charter in Marco Island

5.00If you’re just looking for a typical day on the water… don’t book with 4thStoryCharters. But if you want one of the most memorable, unique experiences you can have in SWFL, this is the captain you want. This trip was a grand slam — we saw it all. We caught a variety of fish, saw a ton of wildlife, and ended the day with one of the most beautiful sunset views in Florida! I’ve lived in Florida my entire life and have spent countless days on boats, but my trip with Captain Jason was on another level! We had four dolphins riding the wake multiple times, spotted stingrays, sea turtles, and even a roseate spoonbill, which is a rare sight in the mangroves. On top of that, we reeled in grouper, snapper, jack crevalle, sea trout… the list goes on! Another thing that made this trip stand out was the boat itself — it was genuinely perfect. Cushions for the sunset cruise, plenty of space for fishing, and an incredibly smooth ride where you barely feel a thing on the water. It made every part of the day that much better. Fishing charters can be expensive, and it’s tough to find a captain who truly makes it worth it. Jason absolutely does. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about the 10,000 Islands and Marco Island area, super friendly, and great with kids. The whole day felt relaxed, fun, and unforgettable. Also, don’t skip the sunset and shelling tour.. the island he takes you to feels like a remote island in the Caribbean! If you want a charter that genuinely stands out, book with Jason. Easily one of the best days I’ve ever had on the water!
