he tour begins with a drive on the old northern highway road to the classical Mayan trading center of Altun Ha. As you learn about the Mayans who inhabited the site thousand of years ago, enjoy the same routes that these Mayans walked through and enjoy the amazing views from atop Altun Ha's highest monumental structures. This tour is a fantastic historical adventure.

Communication was a bit challenging as the operator never responded to Viator messages. I found the number on Trip Advisor and was able to contact that way so crisis averted. We booked private yet had to share the vehicle with no price adjustment. The city portion of the tour was boring with nothing to see. The Mayan ruins were very nice and easy to walk around. Jose was a very nice driver/guide.

The city part of the tour was not much to see. The Mayan ruins were quite interesting and in very good shape with easy access. Jose did a good job of guiding through the facility. Decent lunch included.

Seeing the ruins was amazing however we booked a PRIVATE tour for 11 people and Jose add a group of 4 to our excursion. Jose’s van only held 15 passengers. With 15 customers plus Jose we did not have enough seats in the van for all of us. Completely inexcusable. My sister in law was kneeling on the floor the entire drive to the ruins and my niece sat on the floor on the way back. When we got to the ruins Jose said he would call for another car however he did not and again made us ride without seats for all paid passengers. It was miserable! I specifically booked a private tour knowing we had a larger group and for the tour guide to add a 2nd group without enough seats for everyone was absolutely unsafe and completely unprofessional. Definitely use a different company if you are booking any tours in Belize City.

Jose was our guide, a really nice guy. The tour was great for our family. He upsold us the visit the monkeys for $40 pp, but for the extra 1.5 hours of his time, driving and seeing howler monkeys up close it was worth it. We didn’t spend as long at the ruins as I would have liked but, we were getting hungry by that time anyway and we went to a local place for authentic Belizian lunch plate. It was delicious. Things to be aware of, Jose runs his business and is often of the phone. In the six hours we spent together there must have been 20 calls made and taken as he tries to navigate the tour and see who is working and what restaurants are open, managing other bookings etc. So be aware of that if you are expecting undivided attention. Also, the mini van has seen better days and my seat was broken which was minor inconvenience. We all really enjoyed our tour and time with Jose and he is super good with kids and he went out of his way to ensure we had the best priced tickets for the water taxi and stopped by a market so we could get some fruit.
The price is high.

Excellent day trip! Jose was a great tour guide and the ruins are really cool to explore. We got a quick tour of Belize City and a great local lunch. Recommend 💯

Jose, our guide was amazing! Very knowledgeable and informative. He took us to an very nice local restaurant for lunch and the food was great! I highly recommend this adventure!

We had a great time! Jose was very knowledgeable and friendly. We got a chance to see this beautiful city — we even climbed the top of Altun Ha. Great conversation, great food. Beautiful experience!!

Not what I expected for a tour. The Mayan temple was awesome. The rest of the experience was not what I would expect for a paid tour. Constant attempts to up-sell for things we didn't want. Clearly an agreement with local vendors to drive in tourist business. Not a bad experience, just not the typical guided tour experience.

Jose is an incredible guide who offers convenience, breadth of knowledge, and an impeccable sense of humor. My tour to Altún Ha was both enlightening and insightful. I’m incredibly grateful to Jose for providing such a safe, efficient, and warm owner and guide. He’s the best.
