I’ve walked the streets of London for over 20 years as a police officer and tour guide. I love helping people get the most from their visits to London and England and showing them secret and unusual places as well as the traditional popular sites.
My police Sergeant role in Westminster since 2007 means you can rest assured you will be in safe hands, fully first aid and safety trained. I can share many stories of my time on the beat, including policing Royal Weddings, meeting Prime Ministers, sneaking a prince out of a nightclub and escorting Michael Jackson from a theatre.
Walking Tours:
Some of my ready-made tours include Smithfield Market (6:30am weekdays), City of London highlights , student insights to Oxford and Cambridge, Cotswolds rambles, city highlights in Bath, Canterbury, Hereford, Salisbury, Stratford upon Avon, Winchester and Windsor, Royal Westminster and On the Beat, patrolling Soho and Westminster.

5.00Matt is a true historian when it comes to England! We just returned from a 10 tour with our church group with him as our guide. We had the best time learning all about the Church Reformation - all the way back to when the Bible was first translated and printed. Gave me a whole new perspective to the Bible. Matt was very patient, kind, professional, and oh so smart. He kept us entertained and interested - he has a great sense of humor and we all just fell in love with him. We will always consider him part of the Mariner’s Family.

5.00Matt was very knowledge about the many places we visited in England and Wales. He not only talked about the places, he talked about famous people and events from the past through present. He was also humorous and entertaining. We strongly recommend Matt!

5.00Matt was incredible. He was very knowledgeable and entertaining. We had a group of 40 people from Chicago and he was our guide for 9 days. We went to London, Wales and other areas such as Stonehenge and Cotswold. Not only was he knowledgeable and entertaining but he was also a caring person. Near the end of the trip at least 3 people from our group tested positive for COVID and he brought things to the hotel rooms that were missed during the day and kept everyone involved. My wife and I have done a couple of European group tours and I will rate Matt as our best guide yet.

5.00Matt arranged a tour of Great Fire related sites for a group of six 7 year olds plus parents. He managed to keep it engaging and relevant with enough activities to keep them all enthused throughout, even though it was a long walk. I couldn’t recommend Matt highly enough.

5.00Our office is located close to Smithfield market, and I realised few of us know anything about the history of the area. I have then decided to organise a guided tour for my colleagues, and it happened so that Matt was our guide. What can I say? We started at 6:30am, and 10min in we were all wide awake and immersed into the tour. Matt is hugely knowledgeable and passionate about the history of London which he presents with picturesque facts and vivid descriptions linking past and present. Often morbid historical facts become less gloomy thanks to Matt's great sense of humour. During his tour it was truly possible to imagine what London and especially Smithfield market area looked like centuries ago.

5.00As one of a group of friends, Matt led us on a fascinating tour of some of the undiscovered corners of London, and managed to throw in a little bit of something for everyone from historic sites, to film set venues and a rooftop coffee stop at the end. He is a knowledgeable, charming and entertaining guide, I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to uncover hidden London.
