Vila Velha State Park is the first State Park in Paraná and one of the main parks in the state. Our Vila Velha Cycling Tour starts at Praça do Japão (Batel). We embark towards Campos Gerais, going up the São Luiz do Purunã mountain range, towards the second plateau of Paraná. We arrived at Vila Velha State Park and started the ride inside the park at the visitor service center. We start the pedal on the internal road, we go to Lagoa Dourada and from there we return to visit Furnas 1 and 2. From Furnas we go up again, passing through the Visitor service center and cycling to the famous sandstones and their curious shapes, including the cup, the best known of all. We returned to the visitor service center and ended our ride. Of the 22 km, 6 km are paved and 16 are asphalt. Return to Curitiba.

We booked three private cycle tours with Pedro a) Interparks city tour; b) Vila Velha state park; c) Morretes with luxury carriage scenic train return. We also booked 2 transfers between the airport and our hotel as well. Pedro is a really nice guy with excellent English who is easy to talk with so everything was arranged by email quickly. He sent details of the routes we would cycle and arranged for helmets as well as bikes for us. The Vila Velha State park tour was better than Interparks City tour. Pedro picked us up from our hotel and drove us approx. 90 minutes to the park where we picked up the pre-booked tickets that Pedro had organised. There are 3 areas to visit in the park with the 2 lagoons (one with a zipline over the lagoon that you can add to your visit for a small fee) and the unusual Rock formations (sandstones) that we visited last. At each of the 3 locations you lock up your bikes and walk around the locations with the sandstones loop being the longest walk of 3.5km. Some of the sandstone formations have names like the Dinosaur, Lion and Camel which match their shapes and is a great place to take photo. It took us just under 3 hours to cover 25km cycling and walking and seeing all of the sights at the park. We really enjoyed our tours with Pedro and highly recommend him!
