There are only a handful of bioluminescence or bioluminescent bays in the Caribbean, and not many more than that in the world. They only occur in certain places because they only happen naturally under very specific conditions.
The water in Bio Bay is very warm and salty with an abundance of nutrients and seagrass, the perfect environment for special microscopic plankton. These plankton occur all over the island, and all over the Caribbean, but the concentration we find in Bio Bay is what makes for a fantastic experience. Because of these plankton “bioluminescence,” it produces a very short burst of light when stimulated by movement.
The Bio Bay is best viewed by floating in the water. With snorkeling gear, you’ll float in this magical bay mesmerized as your movements create trails of light in the water. This shimmering light show is awesome, and if the timing and conditions are right, you might even see the mating glow worms which occur two to three days after the full moon.

5.00This experience was amazing. Jordan was the very best guide! He was wonderful with our 3 kids under 5 and told us all about the area. The boat ride was so much fun, we cranked up “Under the Sea” and “I am Moans” on the Bluetooth. We saw the beautiful sunset from the boat ! We were amazed at the Bioluminescent Bay and the water show from the plankton. The 3 year old made the glowing water shoot out like Elsa did in the movie Frozen. Our son really got the water glowing with his fast movements..This was a sight everyone show see and this is the company to trust!! Thanks Jordan!!

5.00Amazing way to see the bioluminescent bay in small, modern and lovely boat. So few of these bays in the world and the ability to snorkel at night and see the luminescence was amazing. Justin, our captain, was kind and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!

5.00Our whole group loved this excursion! Our captain Jordan was informative and kind (we had 4 children in our group) and we loved the bioluminescence experience! Would definitely recommend the private tour, our group of 8 was very happy.

5.00We are a group of 4, on a girls trip. We looked at all the options for the bioluminescent bay tour but most were very expensive just to be on a large crowded boat. The 4 of us were able to book a beautiful and private charter boat with an awesome tour guide and split the overall cost for the same as we would have individually paid with other group charters. The experience was a once in a lifetime and worth every penny. The bioluminescence was so bright and beautiful! I highly recommend this tour. I will be bringing my whole family back to see this and will most definitely use this company again!

5.00It was a great experience! The pickup was a smooth process and the van was nice. The boat was comfortable and the ride to and from the bay was fun. We all enjoyed making the water glow while we swam in it! Our guide was great and provided interesting facts about the area and what makes the water glow.
