Our ethos is ‘like-a-local’. This is a culturally immersive walking tour, meaning that you will travel around Tokyo on foot and using the excellent public transport system….like a local! Throughout the tour you will learn about Japan’s culture, customs, history and local way of life. Feeling hungry? We’ll get you eating like a local too! Your tour is flexible and will be paced to your speed and requirements. Specialist topics of interests can all be covered; architecture, religion, politics, street art, general history, WW2 history, food, instagramable highlights, pop/movie/anime culture.
Ideal for people with limited time, or those who want a comprehensive overview of Tokyo prior to exploring further on their own. Simply indicate your interests and enjoy an itinerary specific to you.

If you cancel more than one week (more than 168 hours) in advance we will give you a full refund (excluding the booking service fee). If you cancel between 7 days and 2 days (between 167 and 48 hours before) we will give you a 50% refund (excluding any service charge). If you cancel less than 48 hours there is no refund.

5.00We had an incredible tour with Keiko. She was warm, knowledgeable and gave us an insightful first day experience exploring old Tokyo and quieter neighborhoods. Not only did she recommend a delicious lunch spot at the end of our tour (which was incredible), she also took the time to follow-up with guidance for our next day’s planned exploration of the fish market and other recommendations! We really appreciate the great photos she took, and her wonderful tour. Would highly recommend Keiko!

5.00Very enjoyable walking tour with inside information about Japan and its culture! Experienced the subway system , some Japanese foods, and learned that this country is punctual, clean and proficient! Miko was very easy to have as our private guide!

5.00Ian and Hello Tokyo made our trip very memorable. They spent a lot of time preparing and asking questions before the tour and showed us a great time - it was exactly what we needed. Should also mentioned that Hello Tokyo rebooked us without penalty when our flight was cancelled. Can not say enough nice things about Ian and Hello Tokyo. They are a great value for the price and would not hesitate to use them again,

5.00We had a great trip with Nick. He is extremely personable and knowledgeable about a great range of subjects. We learned a lot about what it’s like to live in Tokyo. The fish market was a highlight.

5.00We had the BEST experience with Milo. She was extremely communicative before the tour, flexible, and timely. And was such a great guide, especially with our children. As a former teacher who has lived in several countries, she has a nice way with people and explains things very well. She answered all of our questions and even taught us how to ride the subway. She takes excellent photos also. Highly recommend and we have been on many tours this trip - she was the best.

5.00I had a fantastic full day walking tour with Yasu. He is a wonderful guide and knows a lot about Tokyo, Japanese customs, and history. Yasu’s English is honestly better than many native English speakers so there was never any concern with understanding him. I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking for a walking tour in Tokyo.

5.00Iain subbed in for the person who was originally going to be my guide, and I have to think it was lucky for me that he was able to jump in at the last moment and put together a perfect itinerary to introduce me to Tokyo. His knowledge of the history of the city and the various sites we covered was impressive and exactly what I wanted to hear about. In addition, he's just a really good guy who I enjoyed getting to know.
