To maximize your day and our destination options in the National Park, we offer flexible timing allowing for an easy transfer away from the busy ports of St Thomas to meet near the commuter ferry terminal in Cruz Bay. The ferry takes 12 minutes and shows you more of the surrounding cays in transfer. Your crew awaits as you arrive on the beach immediately near the dock near the ferry. Here you will board our inflatable tender and to be delivered to our very calm anchorage and all inclusive sailboat.
We've been sailing here for nearly 21 yrs and our itinerary showcases the true home of the islands culture and island vibration we believe our guests are looking for. St. John's protected western shoreline provides the perfect venue for our guests to enjoy the serene, blue, waters to relax and sunbathe or take the helm of 40 ft sail boat. We offer our guests the chance to swim with amazing sea life and comb the white sandy beaches of some of the most incredible shoreline on the planet.

5.00It was a great day on the water. Captain Mike and his nephew Beau (Bo?) we're both great. The were friendly, knowledgeable, and just really nice. They took us to a couple of fun snorkeling spots that we could not have accessed by land. We got to see the islands from a sailboat, see fish, ray, and turtles in the water, and enjoy some good food and drinks. My group of six was three adults and three children (9,7,6) and it was a good experience for everyone. My 6 year old didn't want to get in the water much, but got to steer the ship for bit, which she loved. I highly recommend Morningstar for anyone visiting St. John.

5.00We have been visiting St. John for nearly 20 years. This was the single best outing we have done. Captain Mike has been on the island for a long time and was super knowledgeable. We thought we knew the Island well but learned a lot today. Captain Mike is very patient, professional, skilled, accommodating, and focused on his customers having a great experience. Can’t say enough good things. Highly recommend!

5.00We have been coming to St. John for many years and I can say that we will definitely sail/boat with Captain Mike and Morningstar again. It was a perfect day of sailing on their beautiful boat (and taking the tiller was a thrill!). Exceptional snorkeling; careful attention to safety; and, a wonderful time talking with MIke and getting to know his interesting story! If you take only one trip while on St. John, contact Morningstar. You will be so happy that you did!

5.00Captain Mike splendid and fun as usual. Snorkeling was cool and we made a side trip to Lovango . I always wanted to visit. Our 4th trip with Mike and it’s always blast. Sailing tips and metaphysical conversation aside and painkillers throughout. Thanks Mike for the pointers and a few cold ones.

5.00I was urgently looking for a "surprise" private sail for a friend and her boyfriend who were vacationing on St. John. She had been going through some difficult times in her life and knew she would just love this...and she did! I wrote Morningstar on Wednesday, by Thursday, the next day, I had it booked. Thursday being Thanksgiving. Mike was so kind, helpful, sincere and just wonderful to work with. While I was not in St. John myself, but thousands of miles away, he seemed like he was there next to me plaining the whole thing. The best review I could give was getting some pictures from my friend on the sail, with a smile as big as the sun. First time I had seen a smile like that on her face in a long time. She also made mention of how wonderful the crew was! If you are looking to do a sail, private or otherwise, please call Morningstar Charters, you won't be disappointed!

5.00We had a great experience with Captain Mike and his nephew Beau. We spent the day on his power catamaran exploring the beaches around St. John. He picked us up at our resort, which was so convenient. He knows the area well and taught us so much about the history of the USVI. Even some stormy weather didn’t taint our day at all! We snorkeled with sea turtles, picked up lunch at Pizza Pi, and saw some amazing beaches. His nephew was a great bar tender. You cannot go wrong booking a trip with Captain Mike!

5.00My wife and I went sailing with Captain Michael and have to say it was one of the best experiences of our life. This was our first trip to St. John so we weren’t sure how to experience it. Michael was courteous and informative. We were curious to better understand sailing and he walked us through the basics. He will let you get as involved as you want or you can just relax and enjoy the views.. He took us to some amazing snorkeling sights where we saw an abundant amount of marine life including turtles, mana rays and several types of fish. The beaches were very private and some were only accessible by water. We had very cold beer and were able to sample Captain Mike’s version of the Pain Killer and a refreshing lime and coconut rum drink…and did i mention the beer was ice cold!? We had a wonderful lunch from a local deli. All in all it was a perfect day. Not only did we get to see St. John from a new perspective but we also made a new friend. We would highly recommend the Morningstar and Captain Mike and will certainly book this trip again when we return to St. John.

5.00We’ve sailed with Captain Mike and Morningstar three years in a row. What an incredible experience! Mike is professional, friendly, and the consummate host and captain! We visited some beautiful beaches and amazing snorkeling around the island of St. John. We’ll charter with him next time we visit!

5.00Once in a lifetime experience! Not only did Captain Mike teach and gave me the opportunity to sail, he brought us to a beautiful spot to snorkle! But the best was a rare experience to swim with dolphins in Scotts Bay! Incredible!!! He was as in awe as we were and helped us capture this beautiful moment! Captain Mike was thoughtful, funny, and insightful with island history! I would highly recommend an excursion with Morning Star Charters!
