Stonehenge is the greatest and most iconic marvel of prehistoric Britain and a Unesco World Heritage Site. Travel back in time and discover what inspired stone age people to start erecting this monument 4,500 years ago. Upon arrival your guide will offer you an entertaining and informative privately guided tour of this unique Stone Circle and you will learn about recent archaeological discoveries. Avebury Stone Circle

You will enjoy a traditional pub lunch (approx 1 hour) en route to Avebury, which is yet another extraordinary prehistoric site. Experience the 3 wondrous Standing Stone Circles at Avebury. Get up close and personal with these giants - reach out and feel their mystical aura. Built between 2850-2200 BC, this is the largest stone circle in Britain, which also contains two smaller inner stone circles. Wander freely through the stones and let your mind and imagination run free. Stonehenge to Avebury transfer time - 45 minutes

A memorable day! Everyone should experience Avebury & Stonehenge together, and with an experienced guide. Matt’s deep knowledge of these fascinating sites enables him to compare and contrast them in a way that brings them to life. We greatly appreciated the details he shared; he clearly stays up-to-date with ongoing research and findings that have changed scholars’ understanding of Stonehenge in particular. Thanks, Matt!!

Matthias is an amazing guide, who transported us to the Stone Age with eloquence, generosity and wit! We learned so much about English history, spanning way beyond the Stone Age, and had such a great time exploring with Matthias. What a wonderful day!

The Prehistoric Wiltshire tour (Long Barrow, Avebury & Stonehenge) was my 2d tour with Matt & I loved it. Matt is knowledgeable, informative (but definitely not boring) & a genuinely nice guy. Avebury is such a large site but Matt gives you the info you need to understand it (to the extent we can)...and you can touch the stones (unlike Stonehenge). And of course Stonehenge is exactly as advertised. We went 2 days before the summer solstice so saw the preparations being made at both sites for the expected crowds...I wouldn't go on the solstice myself. I love touring with Matt & look forward to doing another tour with him in the future.

Our day with Matthias was the highlight of our week in the UK. Not only was Matthias incredibly well versed on the (mysterious and debated ) history of Stonehenge and Avebury;he was full of information on the entire area, history and culture. We had a lovely Sunday Roast at a pub midway through. It was very comfortable to spend time with him and we never lacked for interesting conversation. The car was really nice and our every need was considered. I've already shared his info with several discerning friends and can't recommend him enough. Worth every penny.
