Castle Combe

The day begins in Castle Combe, which is surely one of the most photographed villages in all of England. Little has changed here since the 15th century - no street lights or TV aerials. This mediaeval gem is famous for its picturesque cottages and babbling brook. Nestled in a wooded Cotswold valley, Castle Combe has been a favourite Hollywood filming location over the years for movies including War Horse, Stardust and Doctor Dolittle.

Tetbury

Thereafter, your journey continues on towards Tetbury, which is the home town of The King and Queen Camilla and neighbours their Highgrove Estate. Discover more about its fascinating history as a market town, famous in the past for the local wool and yarn industry. Walk down the Chipping Steps, an old entrance to the town and admire the picturesque weaver’s cottages. The centre of Tetbury is a conservation area and many buildings are hundreds of years old. Why not pop in to buy a souvenir from His Majesty's Highgrove Shop.

Our tour guide Matt did an excellent. Envious of the amount of information he can retain. lol. Very knowledgeable in each area we visited. Was thoughtful, patient, great sense of humor. Adjusted our trip when he heard our family name was Burford so we could spend extra time there. Beautiful villages. Highly recommend.

First of all, spending a day with Matt is like spending a day with a friend. His knowledge of the Costwolds is amazing including many stories at each location. His professionalism is impeccable. I Highly recommend this private discovery tour with Matt. It was the highlight of my stay in Bath. BRAVO Matt.

Matthias Kurth is your awesome tour guide for the day. Matt takes great pride in his craft and goes the distance to ensure his clients are satisfied. He's very knowledgeable about the Cotswolds' history, trade industry, and architecture. This is THE tour of the Cotswolds that you want to take. You'll ride in comfort in Matt's Mercedes. He's punctual and reliable in communications. Matt takes his clients to all of the highlight spots of the Cotswolds and even goes the extra distance to offer a very short and incredibly easy hike through a couple of fields. You'll have shopping opportunities in Bouton-On-The-Water. We dined at The Slaughters Manor House Restaurant in Lower Slaughter. It was the perfect choice to enjoy a delicious lunch amongst the gorgeous history and beauty of the Cotswolds. The city of Tetbury is included in the tour. That little town has a lot of history, and Matthias loves to talk about it. I found the experience very educational. I had no idea that the town provided a substantial backdrop to the planning and successes of World War II.
