• Do not leave Porto region without a visit to the Douro Valley. Exceptional, private tour with a lot of value for cost.

  My husband and I had an amazing experience with the private tour from OPorto and Douro Moments. Our Portugal trip was impromptu so I hadn’t had a chance to book certain experiences. Luckily for us, OPorto & Douro was able to accommodate us at the last minute and provide us with a private tour the day after I contacted them. The tour was exceptional—from prompt pick up at the hotel at the time they indicated for pick up, to the extensive knowledgeable information about the Douro Valley region, to a stop at a small village within the Douro Valley for views and a tasting at a local shop, and so much more—-it was an unforgettable experience. They provide value for what you’re paying since it included a beautiful one hour tour on the Douro River, a lunch at a fantastic local restaurant where we met the owners who provided wonderful wine pairing for each course of the meal and a wine tasting at a small family owned vineyard. Despite a rainy day, the beauty of the Douro Valley is an experience that cannot be missed. João, our tour guide was extremely professional, and made us feel completely comfortable since he did not participate in any of the wine tasting. The places he took us had no tourists or very few tourists. I especially like that we were able to support some of the smaller family owned businesses that were authentic and provided a more curated experience. My husband and I had not been entirely impressed by some of the Port wines that we had during our trip (with the exception of one fine dining restaurant in Lisbon Jncquoi Fish) until we took the tour of the Douro Valley region— the quality of the wine during the tour far surpassed many that we had up until that moment. The small batches created at smaller vineyards, such as at Quinta De Tourais were just unbelievable! It was so nice not to be in the middle of crowds of other tourists. Each place that we were taken (outside of the boat tour) felt like we had the place all to ourselves. It’s an experience that cannot be missed when visiting Porto. I highly recommend the well curated and planned activities provided by OPorto & Douro Moments. When compared to other private tours, there’s a lot of value for the cost— not to mention the peace of mind of having somebody else drive since the alcohol content of Port wines is quite high and the roads around the Valley have a lot of curves and sharp turns.   João was a wonderful guide with a deep love of his Douro Valley and Porto roots, which made the trip extra special. Very knowledgeable and interesting. The two wineries, the boat ride, and the lunch provided were incredible. Exactly what we were looking for - small, excellent, family run, with no tour buses in sight. It was truly magical. I wish we were back there again!. I couldn't recommend this tour more highly and would absolutely book João again if we're ever lucky enough to go back.

  We were picked up from the hotel by Joao and he took us around for the whole day. A young well mannered young man who was ever so kind. The weather spoiled our trip a little but other than that we had a very good day.

  We had two wonderful experiences with Oporto & Douro Moments and cannot recommend them highly enough. On Monday, we joined Sara for a private walking tour of Porto. She was warm, knowledgeable, and truly brought the city to life. We discovered hidden corners and learned details we never would have found on our own. Sara customized the pace perfectly and made the entire experience both fun and informative. On Wednesday, we toured the Douro Valley with her son, João, and it was absolutely fantastic. The highlight was our visit to Quinta do Cume, where we enjoyed exceptional wines and even purchased several bottles to bring home. Lunch at Toca da Raposa was equally memorable—the food was delicious and the owner’s hospitality and sense of fun made it one of the best meals of our trip. Both Sara and João are passionate about what they do, and it shows in the way they share their love for Portugal, its culture, food, and wines. Their family-run company provides a very personal and thoughtful touch, and both tours felt like traveling with local friends rather than guides. We left with unforgettable memories of Porto and the Douro Valley and would encourage anyone considering a tour to book with Oporto & Douro Moments. It was the highlight of our stay in Portugal!

  Sara and Joao were both wonderful. They gave lots of interesting and valuable information about the history, food, culture and architecture around Porto and out to the Douro Valley. They were fluent english speakers and they made the experience a pleasure.

  We had an amazing Douro Valley wine and cultural experience with Joao. He picked us up at our hotel in a spacious, clean sprinter van, then took us to a private, family-owned vineyard. Along the way, Joao taught us about the history, culture, and wine of the region. We then cruised the river, seeing the beautiful landscape of the region, followed by an amazing lunch and vineyard tour at Pacheca, where the service, wine, and surroundings were incredible. Joao’s knowledge of the region, culture, and wine was especially impressive and appreciated. We wish this experience could have been longer than one day, but we will be back! Cannot recommend Joao and his family-run Douro Valley tour company more- this was a highlight of our trip!

  Oporto & Douro Moments was recommended to us and we could not be happier with how amazing of a day we had. We reached out a bit last minute (one week before) and they were so extremely helpful and quick in responding to build a great wine tour day. The pickup from the heart of Porto was easy and seamless. Our guide and driver for the day, João, was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and kept us engaged for the entire 90 minute drive. The wineries they selected were so unique, each with their own rich stories. The lunch spot was similarly engaging and delicious. Would and will recommend. Can’t wait to tell our friends and family to book with Oporto & Douro Moments.

  It was a fantastic wine tour where we learned a lot and had a unique experience. The guide knew all things Portuguese and the winery was very welcoming to us. The winery was a special place where they spent lots of time explaining the process and letting us try lots of their wine.
