The Parikkala Sculpture Park

Visit the world renowned contemporary folk art exhibition consisting of concrete sculptures by artist Veijo Rönkkönen. His hard work over 50years resulted in about 550 concrete statues and a magnificent garden. The young Veijo Rönkkönen was known to be very guarded. Art making was his way of communicating with the outside world; he did not dare to venture out into the world but instead invited the world to come and see him. Thousands of visitors visit the park each year. Free entry. Note that the American press has listed the Parikkala Sculpture Park among the scariest places in the world-visit and decide for yourself! The national museum responsible for forest culture is located in Punkaharju, in the midst of the most beautiful landscape of ridges and lakes in Eastern Finland.
